We have a multi-cat household, all rescues. One of my cats is a big bully and one is a Queen B****h. The others are pretty easy going. We've worked with both the troublemakers for several years and have managed to keep the drama limited and the house in one piece. After a conversation with my vet a few months ago, he recommended Feliway for Cats (a pheromone). I was skeptical but tried it. It worked great on my bully cat. He has calmed down a lot and isn't nearly aggressive as he use to be. It worked so-so on Queen B but she is better than she was.
So I love this stuff but it is freakin' expensive! The liquid has to be replace about every 30 days and we have two diffusers in the house. And you are suppose to replace the diffusers every six months. Even with my Amazon Prime account the cost is adding up.
So, has anyone tried anything else that works like Feliway but doesn't cost as much? I'll keep buying the Feliway if I can't find anything else, it is worth it. But I cringe everytime I place an order at Amazon.

We pretty much had the same cat scenario in our house, except our Head Honcho cat was also a pisser on everything when he was in a bad mood. The Feliway worked on the other two cats, but not His Highness! I think Petsmart has a generic version that isn't nearly as expensive and we used it a while before we just said screw it and made the cats out door cats. Good luck!

I switched to the collar for my guy who needs it. I figured rather than put all these diffusers in my house, the collar goes wherever he goes.

My two boys love to play fight (naturally as soon as we go to bed) and the diffusers seem to keep them settled. They are expensive though! I'd love to switch to something cheaper as long as it works!

I am liking the collar so far. I've been using it for about 3 months. The cat who needs it pees where he shouldn't and that hasn't happened since I put the collar on him. He was peeing in a spot far from the diffuser and he hasn't since I put the collar on. I hope it's not a coincidence but so far so good.

You can buy a 3 pack on amazon.com and its cheaper than at Petco. Our house is open layout and the diffusers are super expensive, and i'd have to get several of them to be effective! I figure the collar would go where he'd go and it lasts for @ 3 months. I will say there is a powder coating on the collar. It doesn't hurt the cat, but can be a mess when you are trying to put the collar on the cat. And the collar is is very long, I cut the extra off =)

We use the collars too. I buy the sentry calming collar in 3 packs from Amazon. I believe the Sentry one was cheaper. Works great! Like others have said, the diffuser is in certain spots and hard to cover the whole house. The collar goes with the cat!
I've noticed with a new collar ours will brave the dogs, which he does not like to come and join us. My thought was he must be pretty relaxed to be in with them, lol! Love the collars.

Oddly, my guy with the collar was the most scared of our dog and now he is hanging out with us and didn't mind the dog unless she is walking right toward him. I thought the collars lasted only a month at a time.

I have a black cat who is so skittish and he is prone to UTIs. I have 3 Feliway diffusers and use a Litter Attractant in the box. I may have to try the collar. I just want him to be a happy cat and not freak out when the phone rings, or a car horn honks, or the pizza guy comes.
Oh- and my vet said if the diffuser is on an outside wall near a window, it may be attracting cats from outside to come to the window, which makes my boy territorial and he sprays!
