We always get together with another family and usually theme our food based upon the team regions. The DH in the other family has already claimed Kansas City BBQ. I'm looking for apps & dessert ideas for the 49ers. Input is greatly appreciated, although it doesn't matter where the teams are from, guacamole will ALWAYS be on the table because it's tradition. LOL
I used to have an active sourdough starter until DH and one of the kids got tested for celiac and came back positive so no more lovely homemade sourdough for us.
I think you could take fortune cookies for your dessert. They were invented in San Francisco.

What about something with wine in it? Sonoma is 44 miles away according to my Map app.

We must be on the same wave length. I just posted this question in the Ask & Answer Game! We have a party every year. We always have some of our annual favorites: corny cheese dip & onion dip, rice balls, pizza bites, hot wings, pigs in a blanket and a Carvel Football Cake. We also have a number of Super Bowl Pool Boxes going. They get hung on one of our living room walls and as the quarters end everyone’s always checking their numbers for any winnings. Lots of fun ! Countdown’s on now ......... 🏈 OK sidebar for the corny cheese dip recipe Here you go ...... Corny Cheese Bites ...... 8 OZ CREAM CHEESE. 1 EGG. 1 CUP (1/2 of an 8 Oz bar) MONTERREY PEPPER JACK (Shredded) 1 CAN OF CORN (Drained). 1 BAG TOSTIDO SCOOPS. Preheat oven to 375. Whip cream cheese & egg until fluffy. Fold-in drained corn & shredded cheese. Fill each scoop with 1 Tsp of filling Bake until tops are just turning golden (about 15 min). You can also just use this as a dip. Enjoy !

Still not decided on a San Fran app. When I went to visit, we just ate everywhere and they had everything, my favorite being hitting up a street of food trucks. There is a big Chinatown, so I may do something simple with wontons. Thought about doing boba tea, but I doubt I could produce a good quality dupe at home. My boba loving DS would never forgive me even though he's safe in a hotbed of boba goodness in Seattle.
The Fortune Cookies are a good idea, so I'll get some of those! And since this isn't a fancy crowd, I may do Ghiradelli brownies and make a Ghiradelli fudge sauce for sundaes with optional chopped California almonds. I have plenty of CA wine here already, but I also found a recipe for a cocktail called the San Francisco, so that will be happening.
All January has been Dry January and no sugar for me. I'm falling off the wagon big time this Sunday, letting it run over me and then I'll have to do a course correction on Monday morning. LOL

I'm falling off the wagon big time this Sunday, letting it run over me and then I'll have to do a course correction on Monday morning. LOL Hee hee....I've never heard that. I look forward to a time when I'll use that expression. scrappinwithoutpeas ...Thanks again for posting that recipe! I made them for dinner tonight. basket1lady ....Thanks again for all your helpful info. I really thought I was going to have to order "BASE" from amazon, because it doesn't exist in U.S. grocery stores as far as my googling said. Things I'll change next time: 1. MORE caramelized onions!! They were sooo good! 2. DEFINITELY going to add freshly sauteed mushrooms. 3. Next time, no thyme. I did an experiment tonight where I only added thyme to a few of them because I didn't think we'd like it. I definitely preferred the thyme-free ones. DH and my Dad could care less----hee hee---but I'm very particular. 4. I wanted to enjoy them unadulterated the first time to get a sense of their true flavor , but whenever we have the leftovers, I think some regular yellow mustard would be yummy....and/or I wonder if Dijon would be even better? I think you both recommended MORE cheese than the recipe called for---thanks for THAT important tip, too! As you can tell in the pik, I used a TON!

I'm here for more recipes/ ideas I don't watch football, and our friends that have fun parties are out of town. I enjoy the parties----chatting with people, watch all the fun commercials, and I get a kick out of how EMOTIONAL people get while watching the game. I kind of wish I liked sports because I do appreciate how exciting they can be. If any of our international peas are reading this, does your country have a similar event? Do people look forward to which celeb is going to perform at half-time, and seeing verrry entertaining commercials like they do in the U.S.? A few days ago, my Dad asked me who J-Lo was, because he keeps reading alllllll the hype about her half-time show. At previous super bowl parties, I enjoy making treats and trying the yummies other people make. Looking forward to hearing what more of you are making.

We'll be making these: French Onion Beef Sliders. DD & I made them last weekend for a get-together at my SIL's house and they were a hit. 2nd time through I'd use more cheese (gruyere) and some other type of slider rolls besides King's Hawaiian. Those rolls were the right size but they needed to be cut apart individually, and I thought they were too sweet for this recipe (DD & others loved the sweetness). They don't fit your theme but they were yummy! I think King's makes a non-sweet version....

I think King's makes a non-sweet version.... When I made them the other night, I got Pepperidge Farm potato slider rolls... SO yummy, and cute!

When we made them the second time we used potato slider rolls too. We all liked them better than the King's.

Here's the recipe for the San Francisco cocktail. It's strikingly similar to a lot of other fruity cocktails, but in the spirit of the game, I'm willing to take one (or 3) for the team and drink it! San Francisco Cocktail

LOL You could always buy a large bubble tea or two and divide it out into mini cups. That could be cute, especially if you get a couple of the colorful straws and cut them to size. I'm thinking like the mini cups Starbucks does for samples. Find some clear cups, even plastic shot glass sized would be good and put a few bobas in the bottom and pour in some of the tea. Not to be stickler, but I believe Boba tea originated in Taiwan not San Francisco though... :-)

There isn't anywhere near where I'm going to be the rest of this weekend that makes a decent boba tea. It's mostly what I'd call fruit flavored milk with boba pearls rather than the strong, traditional boba tea and that's a big bleh. LOL Super doable and fun idea to shrink it down though! Great for a party.

I’m admittedly a total Chrissy fan girl, but Chrissy Teigen’s recipes aren’t usually easy and really good. She’s also doing Super Bowl recipes in the week leading up to the SuperBowl. cravingsbychrissyteigen.com/

It’s just my little family and we are doing a nacho bar. I am eating low carb and will just make chips out of cheese for myself and kids will eat chips. With some taco meat, queso, pico, and guacamole, olives, jalapeños, etc.
