In February 2018 Donna was working on getting pages scrapped, and told us, "I have so many eyelets and brads." So this month the Donna challenge is to use eyelets, brads or other old embellies from our stash - those things we thought were so cool but we didn't use. 5 points for each layout that uses eyelets, brads or old making memories type embellies. As always, if you just get photos scrapped that you've wanted to get done, you get an extra point for each one plus any other challenge points that your layout meets. Here is a super basic layout I did last weekend with an old metal embellie, plus other really old paper and stickers you will recognize if you've been scrapping for at least 15 years! I got the photos as screen shots from a short video of my DGD taking her first steps.

Awesome first steps pics, myboysnme! Good job getting them off the video! I, for one, intend to earn lots of points from this challenge this month. 5 points for brads and eyelets AND 1 point per photo? ChaChing! I will sticky this challenge when I get my computer set up again at home. Hoping that is before tomorrow evening b/c copying and pasting from the iPad can be a pain, and I need to set up February challenges then.

Wait, she’s walking already!?! But she was just born the other day! Seems like it anyway. Great that you were able to use the video images to make a page. I actually have some brads - since they were tiny and I didn’t have too many and didn’t need special tools they survived my first scrapbook purge. I don’t know if I’ll manage to use any this month but I’ll think in it. You never know!

myboysnme, that is a cute little girl! I had that patterned paper and used it several times. Brings back sweet memories. Cute page. Glad you were able to get the photo from the video.

I wish that brads did not go "out of style." I think they look nice on layouts.

I recently cleaned out a ton of scrapping stuff, and donated it to the art room at the primary school where DSO works. There was a ton of old Making Memories metal embellishments in the stash (including those footprints, I'm sure!!). I wish I'd thought to scan all the pieces before I got rid of them so I could use them on digital layouts. Anyway, here is my layout for this challenge. I used brads and eyelets. The photos are ones that I meant to use in my December Daily album, but I only ended up doing about 6 pages and now I've lost interest. So this challenge was a good excuse to get them scrapped after all.

I almost forgot to share this here! The whole idea started with how I could use eyelets on a LO! February '21 calendar page by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I really struggled using my Crop A dile Big Bite. It punched the holes beautifully, but I could NOT get it to set the eyelets properly. I really think it is defective b/c the bottom has TWO #2 sides, and no #3 which I needed for these eyelets. I ended up pulling out my hammer and hand eyelet setting tools. THEY worked beautifully! Thanks for setting these challenges every month, myboysnme! Sorry they sometimes get lost in the crowd--especially on busy months like this one. But I love how you include a little detail about Donna, and adding just that extra spark to get our pages completed while we can.

Here's one of my December Documented pages. I used some snowflake brads I had in my stash. Game Time by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr
