I always toast them first. I like them in salads, grain bowls, and as a snack.

joelise do you have a tried and tested recipe that you’d be willing to share please? All the coffee cake recipes I’ve tried aren’t very ‘coffee tasting’ Of course. I’ll miss out the obvious bits of the recipe so it’s not too long! It’s an old M&S baking book recipe. Coffee & Walnut Cake Oven 180c/350f, 2 lined 8” tins 175g unsalted butter 175g light muscovado sugar 3 large eggs, beaten 3 tbs strong black coffee (I have a nespresso machine which makes a very strong expresso, I think this is the key to the coffee flavour) 175g self raising flour 1.5 tsp baking powder 115g walnut pieces walnuts to decorate Frosting 115g unsalted butter 200g icing sugar 1 tbsp strong black coffee 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Method Beat butter and sugar until creamy, slowly add eggs, beat well, add coffee. Fold in flour and baking powder, then fold in walnut pieces. Divide into tins and bake for 20-25 mins. Cool on wire rack. Beat butter, icing sugar, coffee and vanilla extract until creamy. Use half as the filling and half for the top. Decorate with the whole walnuts. Hope you enjoy it. Sorry to the US peas. I only know the metric measurements. joelise thank you I’ll try this in a couple of weeks. Thanks for 👍🏻 the espresso tip

I put them in my oatmeal every morning. This recipe tastes/smells so much like banana bread:
1/3 c. old fashioned oats 1 medium very ripe/over ripe banana (it won’t taste as good if it’s not REALLY over ripe) Sprinkle of walnuts Dash of cinnamon 1/3 - 2/3 c. water
Microwave all ingredients for 2 minutes. Stir and thin with almond milk if too thick.

I eat a handful a day, or put some in my oatmeal. They are a great source of plant omega 3.
I’m a vegan and also use walnuts in neatballs ote as taco filling.

Cookies, brownies or on salads. My family likes pecans a lot more than walnuts so I don’t typically have any on hand. I buy pecans in those giant bags at Costco (2# maybe?) and go through maybe 1-1/2 bags of them a year.

If you blitz them down, they are so tasty as a light crust on fish or chicken. Just toss it with a little panko or regular breadcrumbs.

Puppy Chow (for people).. I mix walnuts or nuts of your choice, Raisins, chocolate/butterscotch chips, coconut chips, and some kind of sugary cereal. Add other ingred of your choice. Its kinda like a trail mix, but more fun. I used to make this in a big container and have it on hand for treats. yum.

I always keep a Costco size bag in the fridge. I make sugared walnuts for salads and put them in banana bread and brownies.

We are vegetarian, so I use walnuts and lentils to make meatballs and meatloaf and ground taco filling. I use this recipe as the base for all of them and adjust the herbs as needed. The meatballs are great made with fresh sage. cookieandkate.com/lentil-and-mushroom-meatballs/I was going to say the same thing! Even if you're not vegetarian, walnut and lentil taco filling is so good!
I use this recipe though, because I don't like mushrooms. So, in case you don't either:
Thank you! I don’t like mushrooms but I saved this one to paprika.

We regularly make Muhammara. It’s a roasted red pepper dip and walnuts in it. It’s blended in the food processor with cumin, olive oil, lemon, bread crumbs. Our family loves Mediterranean food! We eat it like hummus — with carrots, cucumbers, celery, or pita chips.
