My brother got the word today that he is in remission!!! Oh happy dance!!!! Since this isn't a cancer that is cured, but rather managed, he will start maintenance drugs here in a couple of weeks. Other than that, he is on his way to getting life back to a normal track (at least as normal as the rest of us right now)
Thank you for your warm wishes, thoughts, prayers, and words of kindness. I've treasured all of them.
update 3/23
He had just come out of the eating restrictions and the self isolating when the virus started spreading, so he is okay.
It helps that his kids are home and his wife can work from home as they are hopefully protecting him from being too exposed.
He's little depressed because he wanted to start getting out and doing things and then BAM everything shuts down, but he gets it.
Hopefully this summer will bring us all some relief
Original post - February something
He's been home from the hospital since the 6th and he seems to be getting better (much too slowly for his liking). They won't know if it worked for a while until they do a blood test.
Right now he goes from his bed to his couch back to bed. He says the kitchen is just too far. He eats tiny bits here and there
He stayed up to talk to me yesterday for a couple of hours while the family was at children events. Said he knew he had a sister all along, but didnt realize he had a sister that was being sincere when I said. "Anything you need. "
Doctors say if every thing goes well he should feel 1% better each day bringing close to normal some time in MayOriginal Post February something

This is a pretty positive news and I hope that it only continues to get better. I know I am still thinking about him, sending good thoughts. Sure can see how frustrating it must be to be so weak as he gets better. I have never experienced what he is going through and only know from being sick with other things how maddening it is to have to simply lay there as the body heals but nothing can compare to fighting for your life. You are very wonderful sister and a blessing to him and his family. Thank you for the update

Yay! Did he have stem cells done? A teacher at works husband has multiple myeloma and just had stem cells done last week. This is the second time he’s had this and he feels pretty good within a month or so.

Yay! Did he have stem cells done? A teacher at works husband has multiple myeloma and just had stem cells done last week. This is the second time he’s had this and he feels pretty good within a month or so. Yes, They took his cells and cleaned them and then gave him what he calls a chemo-bomb. Then after two days, they gave him his clean cells back. We are hoping this does the trick. We have heard that there could be a second time and then if that doesn't work, they could maybe need mine. It is better with his, so we are hoping that it sticks. He feels like he is missing out on his life right now, and he is. But hopefully this allows him to get back to living it.

I'm sure it is hard to see progress if 1% better a day is the right pace, but sounds like he is on track. I love that he is letting you know he appreciates you being there for him.

Glad to hear he is home and doing better. I know it is a long road to travel, but pray he will continue to get better each day as the doctors predict. {{{Hugs}}}

That is happy news. It’s nice you are taking care of him.
My 88yo aunt with multiple myeloma is hanging in there, too.
