My husband's co-workers from New Zealand will be visiting and want to go to DC for the weekend (we are in Pittsburgh). Does anyone know if the area between DuPont Circle and the White House is a safe area? Although I grew up near DC, it's been so long that I lived there and I am not familiar with the area.

Yes, that is a safe area. I used to work near the White House and often walked to or from Dupont. Situational awareness is useful and I would Metro or uber at night but I’d do that most places.

Yes it is a very safe area and heavily populated during the day. Just use big city awareness at night and they'll be fine

I stay in that area when in DC and it's fine.
