I am cleaning out a bookcase of old books. There are so many weird random books that I forgot I loved...at the time at least.
P.S Your Cat Is Dead by James Kirkwood and The Beans of Egypt, Maine by Carolyn Chute are two that I found that I remember loving.
Do you remember any older odd books that you loved?

I still have some copies of books I loved as a preteen/young teen. The Ghost Next Door, The Executioner, Lois Duncan books, Oz series. I don’t have many books from my adult life, I mostly use the library and read them once or for books I buy I read them and then donate them. . I do have all of Salinger’s books and a lot of classics though. Those I read and reread, so they get to stay.

I also have found: All of Larry McMurty’s. I loved every one of his. All of James Herriot’s books. The British Vet. Bag Balm and Duct Tape by Beach Conger MD. Tales of a Vermont doctor. So many that I have forgot about. It is kind of a weird ride back in time.

All of James Herriot’s books. The British Vet. I have all these too. Someday I want to reread them. I haven't kept many books over the years, just a few to mix in among the pretties in my bookcases. I used to hang onto books and finally realized I never reread anything and I can always get them at the library or on-line.

Even though I've moved at least 23 times in my life books are my passion and I've been able to hang on to a few that I've loved the most. Sadly all of my childhood books have vanished and I'm most sad about those.
The books I've been able to hang on to are:
"The Family Nobody Wanted" by Helen Doss
"Sunshine" by Norma Klein
The Tripod Trilogy starting with "The White Mountains", "The City of Gold and Lead" and "The Pool of Fire" by John Christopher
"Holocaust" by Gerald Green-this was a mini series that came out on network TV in 1978 that starred Meryl Streep, Joseph Bottoms, and James Woods. I remember watching it with my family and it was so good that I bought the book.
And my all time favorite "Dove" by Robin Lee Graham. I read this when I was 17 and it's the true story of a young teen who at 16 years old in 1965 begins a round the world voyage in a 24 foot sailboat. Reading this sparked my love of sailing (even though I'd never sailed before) and my dream to one day sail around the world. I didn't get to try sailing until I was 29 and my father had just built a 14 foot sailboat himself in his backyard out of wood. We launched it in North Carolina in the Outer Banks that year on vacation in the Bay and in the ocean! It was love at first sail. Now my parents and I both live in the city that defines itself as the World's Capital of Sailing and I still have my dream.
My books are all paperbacks and are creased and the pages are yellowed. But I love them so much. There is something special about them. I checked out a newer copy of "Dove" but surprisingly the photos in the newer copies are all faded and look horrible compared to my copy.
