I’m sitting here in the chemotherapy suite getting an infusion of bisphosphonates and listening to the head Nurse describe the screening they have started since I arrived this morning.
Patients have to enter through only a few entrances and will be screened before they are allowed to enter the buildings. Staff have to enter through separate designated doors. The nurses are looking out the window saying, “look at the line.”
I’m glad that they are taking this seriously. The head nurse was just explaining to me that they had a patient who just got back from Italy come into the chemo suite 2 days ago to get her port flushed, exposing everyone in the room (staff and people receiving chemo).
I’m supposed to get a colonoscopy here next week - I will be sure to allow extra time to just get into the building.

Can you postpone the colonoscopy? I would only be getting urgent procedures at this time.

That’s crazy about the patient from Italy. We can’t get past reception here without answering screening questions.

They have a large yellow tent set up in the parking lot outside the ER. They will see people with COVID symptoms out in the tent instead of in the ER building.
