Looking to see if any other peas have been put on Zometa? It is a bisphosphonate given via infusion.
Did you have any side effects?

Are you OK? It's a chemo drug.

Are you OK? It's a chemo drug. Yes - no cancer recurrence. Zometa is a bisphosphonate that can be used to both strengthen bones and reduce the chance of breast cancer coming back into the bones - a place where it often recurs. It is also used when people do have cancer in their bones, but thank heaven that isn’t me currently. Chemo reduced my bone density - I now qualify as having osteoporosis - so my oncologist wanted to start me on Zometa. He splits his time between Walter Reed and NIH, so he is on top of the current research. The infusion today was at the chemo suite at Walter Reed, and even though it has been 18 months since I finished chemo there, a number of the nurses remembered me. I was given a nice heated blanket and the chairs have heat too. It was as pleasant as an infusion can be. I’m feeling a bit flu-ish tonight, but that is a common side effect.

I'm on Xgeva, it's targeted but I think it's similar. ( I could be wrong ) I've only had one round and am still dealing with cancer / treatment symptoms and side effects so I'm not really sure what's from what. I know I'm a little nervous about the chance of osteonecrosis of the jaw but I also have a bunch of cancer eaten bone so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . I hope you do well with it. Feel better. I'm so glad you have nice people caring for you, it makes such a difference.

I'm so glad you have nice people caring for you, it makes such a difference. It sounds like the two drugs are similar. Yes, the potential of osteonecrosis of the jaw is a little unnerving. I’m hoping that I’ll be on the right side of the stats for that side effect - and I hope that for you too. I’m sorry that you have to deal with all the crap that cancer and its treatment is throwing your way. You are amazingly strong. I’m keeping you in my prayers and well wishes. (((Hugs)))
