This is going to turn out to be an example of natural selection. When it hits the trumper states it is going to get bad because they are dumb enough to believe the orange moron and will carry on as usual not taking precautions nor limiting social contact. It will be interesting.

So is it wrong for me to be happy that this interaction was caught on tape. I mean, he walked right up to the cameras purposefully so he could act a fool. I mean, yeah for free speech! I'm worse than you. I can't wait for him to be named and shamed. Of course, Fox will probably have him on one of their evening shows as a hero who stood up to the MSM.

Yeah, and There is a huge overlap on the Venn diagram of people who love trump and people who dont think this disease is a big deal I’m finding the same on my newsfeed. So it doesn’t change how I view people because I already saw them clearly, but it still makes me mad. A sampling shown here.

I am assuming I will be unfriended by a couple of friends today. Both of them posted that stupid advice about how drinking water every 15 minutes will wash the virus down your throat, to your stomach where your stomach acid will kill it. And how holding your breath will diagnose if you have the virus or not. I didn't post anything directly on their posts, but did do a post on my wall about stupid and dangerous advice. They had a segment on GMA about those claims. Supposedly it had come from a Stanford account ( screen shot)BUT Stanford said no we never put that out . And in fact it is patently false. I heard that news sources reached out to Stanford who confirmed they did not say it. The version friends posted stated it came from a Japanese doctor. And referred to going to a "Lung Hospital".

So glad I quit FB a couple of years ago. The political stuff and reposted memes were just too much for me. There is no way I’d be able to handle the crazy that I assume has come out of the woodwork regarding coronavirus. I bow down to any of you still FBing. You’re stronger people than I am!

My favorite has been one shared by dumbasses I went to HS with - it's a government made virus developed so the government can take control of everything. "See, they're controlling sporting events, concerts, all gatherings, now they're got everyone confined to their homes. They have total control of the entire population!" My Sister-in-law shared that too! My jaw dropped! These people are insane! I can't take it. She's a big QAnon person, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Well - I live in a 'trumper' state. Good to know what you think of us and glad for it to get bad here. I am so sorry that people are being so visceral toward you and the state that you happen to live in. I don't understand this element of human emotions. I wish you peace and a healthy environment. The Canadian cares about you, your family and your state.

Well - I live in a 'trumper' state. Good to know what you think of us and glad for it to get bad here. I also live in a 'trumper' state. And there are folks very being very vocally dismissive of and abusive toward news anchors just trying to report the news, as evidenced by the video I posted. The resistance of some people to social distancing measures is definitely going to to make things worse here than they need to be. I don't think anyone is glad for that to happen. But as femalebusiness said, it will be interesting.

Well - I live in a 'trumper' state. Good to know what you think of us and glad for it to get bad here. I don’t hear people saying anything about certain states, but IMO (and that of others here) many of the posts that we are taking about—spreading misinformation, taking things lightly, blaming the democrats for the virus, etc—are coming from people who also post misinformation, lies, derogatory comments and such in support of Trump. Does that apply to you? I know for myself what frustrates me the most is that people are so quick to spread lies. That is a huge problem, no matter what the subject is. We really need to stop that and everyone needs to be responsible with what they post. It js tearing our country apart and it is killing people.

Well - I live in a 'trumper' state. Good to know what you think of us and glad for it to get bad here. As long as you understand the seriousness of this virus and take the recommended precautions against social contact no one is talking about you personally. If you live in a red state surrounded by people who believe this is all a hoax you eventually will be in much greater jeopardy than areas that are taking precautions. That is just fact.

I haven’t seen too many crazy posts, but I did have to laugh at an old high school friend who suggested in a COVID-19 related post that Facebook has a liberal agenda.

Look guys, I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here but the nonsense goes BOTH ways. There are nay-sayers and people showing tremendous ignorance on BOTH sides whether you want to believe that or not. My FB feed is filled with things that make me want to scream too and I have many liberal friends as well as conservative ones.
I don't care which side of the aisle you are on--PLEASE take this seriously. I am in the middle of doing newspaper articles about this and I'm dealing with our local emergency squads and even our hospital--none of which are acting very concerned. I pray, pray that I don't get this because I do NOT want to end up at this hospital. I read an interesting article this morning about the Flu of 1918 and what proved effective in treating it. One major thing was when they ran out of hospital space and started having to put people in tents outside. They found the death rate dropped from 40 percent to 15 percent with this out in fresh air and getting all possible sunshine. So, I am telling DH that if I get it, just put a tent in the backyard, make sure I have plenty of covers and water and I'm pretty sure I'll fare better than at the hospital.

it was in an Aldi group where someone was complaining about how she couldn't buy something at the store because of all the hoarders. I'll admit that this angers me. It hasn't gotten really bad here in SC, yet but I see several items disappearing from shelves. I hope they put a limit on toilet paper, water etc. I'm not afraid of the virus, but the way people are panicking scares me. I'm not making light of it by any means, but misinformation-both ways- is not good. And I do need paper towels because I'm on my last roll... Oh yeah... we all agreed that hoarding so that others can't get any isn't good. It was just her comment about letting our "God-given immune systems take care of it" and how those with compromised immune systems should "take care of themselves" that got us all riled up. She had absolutely no sense of community responsibility and at least trying to take care of the more vulnerable among us.

yep! I had an argument with another runner yesterday on FB because a popular trail run got canceled. He's pissed saying that running outside carries no risk. I reminded him about the start line, passing on single track, running behind someone spitting and blowing snot rockets, etc. He proceeded to give me percentage of people in Italy dying using the entire population and then including how the risk of getting the virus is low considering the amount infected in Italy vs the population. I started to type out a long response and then realized that I wasn't going to change his mind. I ended with "the world must be stupid, and you're a genius. Best of luck to you." I just can't with these people. And you know, with all the cancellations and closures we've done, if we manage to slow the spread, these same tools are going to be screaming that we closed everything for nothing. UHG...I just want to quarantine myself from the stupid humans.

When it hits the trumper states it is going to get bad because they are dumb enough to believe the orange moron and will carry on as usual not taking precautions nor limiting social contact. It will be interesting. I live in what is generally viewed as the reddest state in the nation. We are pretty much taking the same precautions as every other state in the union, with the support of our very conservative, Trump loving governor. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are moving to online classes after spring break next week. The state high school basketball tournament has been cancelled. Oklahoma City’s public schools’ spring break was to start next Monday, but it started today instead. The whole domino effect of U.S. sporting events being cancelled started Wednesday night when fans had gathered at the Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City to watch the OKC Thunder-Utah Jazz game which was cancelled at the last possible second after one of the Utah Jazz players tested positive for the virus. Fans set around for over thirty minutes after the teams left the court before they were told the game was cancelled. When they were finally told the game was cancelled, no reason was given, but everyone was pretty sure it had something to do with the virus. Everyone left in an orderly manner and there wasn’t anything even close to a protest about it. The hotel where the Utah Jazz had stayed was closed and disinfected. There was a story in the paper today about the extreme cleaning measures the employees at the Oklahoma City airport are taking to contain the virus. All this to say, we have our share of crazies, but I live here and from everything I see and hear, people are taking this emergency very seriously.

Well, I can't step away from her but seeing my dtr write that she hoped "this nonsense" would soon be over was a shock. Ugh, it is surprising sometimes. I am getting a chuckle out of the few friends I have who were being a little too self-righteous about going about their day and that the media hype was trying to take down a president to now being in the all knowing preachers of staying home and not spreading it. I mean, at least they got to point B eventually, right?

I went to walmart to pick up a prescription and holy crap. When I couldn't find a parking spot I should have suspected but nothing prepared me for what was inside. I've never seen it that crowded. Some people were pulling around 2 completely filled carts. Shelves were becoming pretty empty. I mentioned it to the pharmacy clerk and she said everyone just found out the kids won't be in school for a while and they're getting groceries. I shop at walmart a LOT (there's not much else here) and I've never seen it like this before summer vacation.
