I’m sitting here catching up on the Auditions shows. And I realized that the next phase - Hollywood Week - isn’t live, but after that we are due for the live portion. The live shows would be scheduled to run in April & May. I have a feeling that it may be one more form of entertainment that I enjoy that will be postponed - first March Madness, now probably Idol. May all my worries regarding social isolation and COVID-19 be so trivial. Anyone else going to miss American Idol if it doesn’t run?

I hadn’t even thought of that but I bet it will be the same with the Voice. It’s been weird with only one show a week vs two in previous years and now thinking it’s going to just stall anyways.

I was wondering this yesterday about the masked singer. They rely pretty heavily on the audience, I think they'll have to cancel (I don't think they are pre-filmed but I could be wrong).

That thought did run through my mind as I was watching one of the audition shows (Idol) on Hulu. It'll affect a LOT of what we watch.

I think I read somewhere that the audience doesn't get to see the actual reveal. That the reactions are canned. But of course that was just read somewhere in passing! LOL ;-)

I thought I heard a couple of weeks ago that all contestants were sent home and the live shows would be held at a much later date; not April or May. I think next Sunday’s show (4/12) is just a filler going over the top 20 and probably breaking the news to us about the delay.

We were half way through dancing with the stars when restrictions hit - they finished the series without an audience. At one point one of the contestants was in quarantine, so he went in with his partner and they danced on the roof of their apartment building with drones filming.
They did end up finishing one episode early, they skipped the semi finals and went straight into the finals with 3 couples.

They'll probably announce the winner between the two girls for the 20th spot.

But the audience is there when they're singing their song after they've taken off the mask?

American Idol...Ryan mentioned this during his Kelly/Ryan stint this morning. They are looking at how they can have the performers compete. He has the original judges desk from Fox (?) in storage. He is hoping to get that set up in his living room.
He wasn't sure about anything else.

I hope they figure it out. What I'm really stressing about is college FOOTBALL. I heard someone on TV say-no clue who it was because I was in another room- that they needed 60 days to be able to start the season on time- so July? Does anyone know?

It will just be temporarily stopped, then picked up where it left off. I'm guessing they will do a recap show to refresh everyone's memory, before they go back to the live shows. There's a few contestants that are my favorites, and a few that I wonder how they made it to the top 20.

Just saw this American Idol update. Show will continue with contestants performing from home. This will be interesting. So much of a performance is the stage and the audience. They'll have to go with different music choices to grab attention. And they won't necessarily have the sound quality you do in a theater. Interesting. But the show going on does give people something to look forward to, which is nice.
