I think it’s crazy how some schools haven’t shut down and others are closed for up to 6 weeks. Where do you live, if your schools are shut down what is the tentative return date and are kids required to do online learning while they are out?

Washington state, closed until April 24th at this point.
Our district is still working out what they will try to do online, if anything. My two older children attend the local community college and all their spring classes will be online.

Southern Indiana. Elearning until April 6 as of now. This wasn’t decided until yesterday at 3pm, when trump was giving his speech. The administration was adamant that school would go on in person despite the governors order. But then fat mouth speaks and now we aren’t.
ETA I think we should be staying home. I just think our school corporation sucks and waiting till trump says it is par for the course here.

I’m in Oregon too although we homeschool so it is business as usual for my daughter. I work for a virtual public school and we are carrying on too, although we closed our office and cancelled all field trip through the end of April.

Southern California. Most districts shut down starting this Monday through the end of the month. I’ve only heard of one school district that is longer (Long Beach, through mid-April).

None of the schools in my area outside Sacramento have closed. Decisions in CA are being pushed out to the individual school districts based on what I've read. The closing of college campuses is also very mixed. UC Santa Barbara is strongly encouraging professors to go to online learning but they aren't being forced. Students for the most part are still on campus and the dorms are staying open.

Chicago. Until the end of March. My undergrad alma mater (Missouri) is finishing classes online for the rest of the semester. Elmhurst, suburb of Chicago, April 3rd. Most of our universities are extending spring break and asking students to do e-learning whenever possible.

Ontario, Canada.
We were just heading into March Break as of end of day Friday, so they have extended the break for 2 more weeks beyond that.
I'm past that - DS is about to be 19....
Haven't heard what any private schools are doing.

Western Illinois. Closed March 17 - 30. We are on break right now, and only staff members go back on Monday and that’s so we can be updated on details and plans.
No e-learning scheduled at this time. We are supposed to make up six of the missed days at the end of the year. The rest will be "Acts of God" days and not made up, although I’m not sure what happens if we are out longer than the next two weeks.

Norway. We have been hit hard. 5.5 million inhabitants, and over 1000 infected, 2 deaths currently (both elderly). The prime minister shut down all schools Thursday, March 12th. The schools are shut down until March 26th, but I highly anticipate it to last a lot longer. The virus is spreading like wildfire, and with such a small population, over 1000 infected is a lot! The prime minister is holding another press conference in 30 minutes, and it is believed it will be announced we are closing our borders.
All organized sports, events and activities are cancelled. A lot of small shops are closed aswell. People who are able to work from home are encouraged to do so.
We apparantly have a lot of food in storage, so shops will not run out of food for a while, but as soon as the schools closed people started hoarding. Our streets are deserted. It almost feels lile a zombie apocalypse, but without the zombies. A lot of people are out and about walking their dogs and hiking, but keeping their distance from each other on the trails.
I hope our schools are closed for a while. My kids are getting school work through the internet, and will have daily assignments and work they have to email in starting Monday.
We should have closed the schools a week ago. We've seen a reduction in daily infected people in the two days they have been closed. Should have closed a week ago......

It’s interesting to me that (most) other states haven’t followed us yet in WA- granted it just happened recently so maybe there will be more closures soon. But if the state that had the first exposure is closing down all schools in the state through 4/24 isn’t that a big hint that shit’s getting real. If other states took it more seriously quicker that would really help with the flattening the curve. If we had taken sooner action maybe we’d be in a better place. Much better to look like “over reactors” than the alternative.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this be extended. I suspect the two weeks is to give administrators time to figure out what to do and how to do it.

Our university has told students not to return until april 3 (I think). Our local schools for k-12 are still open. I imagine they're waiting for that first reported case in our county and then lockdown. I don't know that for a fact though, just my suspicion.

Kids have no school Monday for a teacher workday; no decision about closure or not has been made.
At 4pm today they announced closure until at least March 30.

Chicago suburb: April 13. But that week before Easter was spring break so that doesn't affect the educational plan. So - about a month total and they will reassess.
