DS2 and I went fishing today with our neighbor and his son to a stocked trout pond about 75 minutes away. We spent a wonderful day fishing and had a picnic lunch. We came home with 8 beautiful trout that I’m about to clean and filet. I’ll smoke 4 for dinner tomorrow night and prep, vacuum seal, and freeze the other four to eat later. If we start running short of protein, we’ll go back to the trout pond - plenty of space for social distancing - and catch some more.  The bonus is that fish is my family’s favorite protein. And that it is a day’s worth of out-of-the-house diversion for DS2. |

Although in some areas they have already had people pull their ice houses. Yep - a month or two too late to be doing that - the ice is thin. Early spring this year. |

I was going to go buy eggs, because husband doesn’t like the geese or duck to eat, but the chickens came through and I have a dozen.
We could go fish, but I am not sure I would eat anything out of the water here, even if I could.

We have enough very fat bunnies in our neighborhood to feed a dozen or so families. My terriers go after 3-5 on every walk we take (3 times per day). <pssst> I am envious of your fresh eggs, @megmc! |

When I was a kid my dad was out of work during the recession in the 80s. My mom went to work and dad would take us kids to Lake Michigan everyday and fish. We ate a lot of fish while Dad was unemployed.
