I think for the duration of the weekend, I’m going to take a social media break. I’m so angry/confused/sad and reading all the stories just exacerbates it. And I’m wasting so much time. So I’ll see you all on Monday. <3

I've stopped watching the Trump corona news reports. I watched the last 2 days, and when it came on today, I thought, why watch this, you know there won't be any useful info, which is what I was hoping for the other days. So I turned the tv off, and I really felt much better today, until just now on the nightly news they showed an excerpt of it and I started yelling at the tv and now my anxiety is back with a vengeance. I’m only watching the pressers given by my state and localish health departments. Good information and no/very little politics. Our governor is really impressing me with his updates.

I'm getting some knitting done. And lots of binge watching shows. DH & I have been taking walks. Last night my neighbor called and wants to do a neighbor party of sorts--in our cul de sac, but all of us some distance away from each other. She said she is a bit stir crazy after being home the past 10 days.

I just renewed my subscription to Ancestry. I wasn't going to do it until this summer but they are having a half off sale for all of the shut ins. It is a perfect time to hunt for my two elusive ancestors.. Thanks for the reminder! Perfect time to get going on this again. I have a subscription but haven't worked on my trees in a long while. Good time to make some progress.

I’m taking the dogs for long walks w/ my son who is home from law school for an extended spring break. I’m reading a lot and doing yoga everyday. I’m keeping up w/ friends and family by phone. My Bible Study group is going to meet next week on Zoom, so I’ll be getting ready for that.
Every night I go to bed thinking I haven’t accomplished half the stuff I meant to get done each day.

I want to share something fun my neighborhood is doing. I don't know if I have posted about it yet or not. LOL
We have a neighborhood FB page, and someone posted the idea of putting pictures of silly things in your windows so kids can look for them when they are out walking. It is still pretty cold and gross here, so the idea was to get people out of the house.
Here is the list/schedule she posted:
March 20--silly faces March 23--animals March 26--encouraging words March 29--flowers April 1--Jokes
April 4--Easter eggs
I think this is such a fun idea. I made a huge silly face on posterboard and hung it in one of our upstairs windows. I am going to go out later for a walk just so I can see what everyone else has done. (I don't have little kids)

Spending more time with DH. He gets my crazy and helps me feel better. Plus, he’s kinda cool Logging offline and reading to force my mind to think about other things. We are going to start painting the house again today. We have other small projects we will work on but I feel like painting will be an “in your face” sort of thing to remind us daily that we are moving forward, making progress and not just sitting stagnant while we wait for the virus to run its course. The biggest thing for me is, as always, taking control of things I can: - Like being proactive with my doctor about my anxiety and possible need for rescue type anxiety meds. I just wanted to be able to call in if I felt things got that bad but he had me fill the prescription. I haven’t needed it but I feel loads better that it’s here.
- We started purchasing food and supplies early when y’all gave us warnings of what was to come.
- It’s dumb, but initially I would worry about running out of something even though I keep extras of most paper goods, cleaning and hygiene supplies on hand. I’d find myself going to my linen closet and laundry room where we keep most of it and looking just one more time to see if I needed anything. I was down to one extra toothpaste and found myself going back to look at it again and again. Finally the other day I just placed the order I would normally get with subscribe & save in a month. I knew it was ridiculous, but for $10 I would be able to let it go. Sold.
Doing this makes me feel better about the things I can’t control.

Working from home so throwing myself into it and developing new ideas and concepts. These are things a rarely have time to do when working on campus.
Also cleaning the house, playing video games, Lego, walking the dogs and watching cheesy Lifetime movies.
It is getting hot here, in the low to mid-eighties, supposed to be close to 90 today, as soon as the water warms up a bit more will probably start hanging out in the pool. Water is still a tad cool and too cheap to turn on the heat.

I have two precious nephews that live in Los Angeles, so ever since I heard about the prediction that HALF of Californians might get it, it has REALLY hit me. Unfortunately, my HEALTHY coping isn't working, so I've been hitting the SUGAR pretty hard !!! Annnnd, my adora-bull doggies don't understand why they can't safely eat processed, chemical-filled, high-sugar crap like I am. I obviously took this pik to be silly, but I DID give him a HEALTHY, dog-friendly treat after I whisked the Little Debbies away!

Cuddling with DH, trying to find a workout routine to replace going to the gym. And this morning we made eggs benny, mimosas and coffee to replace going out for brunch. Basically trying to find new routines.

Cleaning and organizing. I know having a clean and organized home helps reduce my anxiety, as long as I don’t walk into my kids’ bedrooms... .

You all are making me feel like "ate the whole box of donuts" is not an appropriate coping mechanism. (Just kidding, but boredom eating is one of my big, big hangups, and I am really determined not to gain back in the next three weeks the 35 pounds I've lost over the last seven months.)
