Help me find an app to calm anxiousness, sleep I have horrible insomnia.
Im looking at the app CALM right now but is $77 a year worth it?
is there another app that is better?
I typically search out you tube videos but they are so commercialized now it’s not calming at all.
I use ipone and ipad
what have you used? That works?

I use the Calm app and love it. Tons of different meditations in it plus music and sleep stories. I also struggle with insomnia which has only been worse this month, but when I meditate daily it helps a ton. I will listen to the music as I get ready for bed to calm my mind, then in bed I’ll do a gently to sleep meditation that usually puts me right to sleep.
I have found the $ worth it but you should see if they have a 7 day trial.

I’ve heard good things about the meditations on the Peleton app. They have a free trial right now (I think 90 days). They have great workouts as well.

Are you looking for more than just noise? I have Relax Melodies and there are several free noises that you can mix. I think they have extras if you pay and I've noticed that there's a music section now. I do a mix of rain, thunderstorms, etc. I use my phone- puts me right out.

I have Calm and Matthew McConaughey 'reads' me a story every night. It's SO worth the $$ JUST FOR THAT. I have no idea what the story is...all I know when he says, "Well hello there..." all is right with world.. Oh yea, they have other things I think...like meditations and stuff Your Mileage May Vary... I also have The Tapping Solution App on my phone. There are a lot of free tapping meditations that help me to calm down.

Insight Timer is free and there are tons of audio for sleep and other things too. I have a headband earphone thing so it’s comfortable in bed and listen that way. I rarely remember the end of any of the meditations because I fall asleep. There is also nature sounds, music, classes....

Ill have to check out the tapping solution.

I second Relax Melodies! They have quite a few free sounds and songs and you can blend them together anyway you’d like.
Additionally, if you have Alexa, you can ask her to play sounds, music, and meditations.

Do you have an Echo or Dot? You could try the sounds they have before you invest in an app. Just a thought.

my therapist recommended calm and it had a free version and a paid version which unlocked a greater selection of meditations, sleep stories, sleep sounds, etc.
i signed up for free version and then got an email at one point offering me the paid subscription for 1/2 so i pulled the trigger.
so if they still have the free version, worth signing up for and then if they have the 50% offer they will notify you.

I've been listening to the free parts of Calm and it has really helped me fall asleep. I think I will buy the subscription.

Are you using ear buds to listen or just through your phone ? I usually listen to an audiobook while falling asleep. I like to use ear buds, but the ones I have are not comfortable to sleep on.

I use a sleep mask with little bluetooth buds, like this one. It's really comfortable and as a bonus, it blocks out light as well. I've also used it on planes (though not remotely noise cancelling).

I don't typically have a problem with insomnia, but on the rare occasion that I do, I use the mySleepButton app with the 'Scenes Pack'. It consist of a voice (you can choose male or female) narrating a series of very short scenes a certain number of seconds apart. Many of these are... strange. It might be something like, "Construction workers standing around............schoolchildren kicking a ball..............Batman driving home.........." The idea is that as you visualize these scenes, it's keeping your mind from doing the endless circling that keeps you awake. I set the intervals about 20 seconds apart, and I don't think I've ever made it through more than ten or so before falling asleep. It sounds really weird, but it works great for me.

I paid for the Calm subscription and the sleep meditation have really helped me sleep. I use a sound machine also, but the meditations really help with shutting down my brain.

I have used relax melodies in the past, but to be honest, the thing working best for me right now is to leave the tv on and turn the volume down enough that I can't understand what is being said. I can still hear it's people talking, just not what they're saying. I usually try to find a nature show narrated by Richard Attenborough, or another soothing voice. Obviously this won't work with tv shows with car chases, fighting, etc. haha! If the light bothers you, you could wear a sleep mask.

Hi, if theshyone doesn’t want the link for a free 30 trial I would love it. I need something to help with my insomnia it’s been really bad lately. I will at least try the one week free trial to see if it helps.

At one point Calm was free for teachers. I don't know if it still is. I got it when it was free.

I do an audiobook on my libby app with the sleep timer. When starting it I bookmark it so that when I fall asleep it isn't hard to find it.

I listen to ali edwards scrapbooking videos. Something about her voice sends me to sleep. I use them if I can't fall asleep or if I wake up during the night. On her latest blog post there is a video at the bottom if you want to try and it's free! youtu.be/Q-smaLUNIsQ

I tried the week free trial of Calm and liked it. I keep telling myself I'm going to spring for the full version, but haven't yet.
