That's how I was! I have a very warped sense of humor! I see we're twins in that regard!

tuesdaysgone if your DH is anything like my DS, you will find the old card before the new one arrives (yes, DS has lost his debit card at least five times during the past two years). Lemons? My favourite in life. If I had to choose between chocolate and lemon, I would choose lemon any day if the week. Unfortunately, my dentist made the choice for me (apparently, citric acid isn’t good for your teeth, gahhh!). But every now and again, I buy one, peel it and enjoy it. Dinner? Pasta with smoked salmon and zucchini. I can’t believe it didn’t show up 15 minutes after you got off the phone. Funny you bring up lemons. We Used to have a limequat tree in Florida. I’ve been browsing garden catalogues and have a lemon tree on my list for my plant room. It would die in the winter here. I like lemons in vodka, salads, yogurt and lemon raspberry cream pie that’s only available at Easter. Not this year though Spent some time helping my sister on the phone & computer sorting out a Medicare issue of my dad’s. He & my brother have the exact same name. Every couple months denies all claims because they insist he has other insurance. It’s my brother’s insurance. This has been going on for years. Even though they have different birthdays and SS #s they somehow just deny claims about every 4 months. They won’t speak to us now that he’s passed away even though they have his permission in writing. So annoying. The billing dept at hospice found some obscure # to take care of it hopefully. Was going to make this cheesy white bean tomato bake over spaghetti squash. No beans here. So TJ’s cauliflower gnocchi it is. With something green I suppose.

I thought the apple rosemary chicken was just ho hum. And I kind of winged the recipe. Jeremy's had three helpings. So I guess he liked it.

Tonight I am making bbq chicken thighs, roasted vegetables and kale salad. I could make rice but I doubt it. I would like some but do I want to make it? I am not sure.

I wanted 5 minute lasagna, but we apparently don't have ricotta cheese. So we are just having spaghetti

I love lemons. Buy every cleaning product possible in lemon scent. I don’t bake much, but I do love lemon meringue pie, lemon pound cake, etc. At my house, lemon juice goes into the chicken soup (really zings it up) and the melted butter for dipping artichoke leaves. Also into the gin and tonics if there’s no lime! I was thinking about just making some Mexican rice and beans tonight. I bought corn tortillas. My sister took the rest of the quiche, but I’m sure she’ll come back if I tell her there’s rice and beans. bc2ca , congrats to your new banana slug. My nephew graduated from UCSC a couple of years ago. Beautiful place! cadoodlebug , the memes are hilarious. The Birdhouse Lady , I’m so glad you liked the fried rice! ETA AussieMeg, I bought corn flakes at the supermarket today. Hopefully there will be some honey joys in our near future. The weather is so terrible here, I had to turn the lights on at 4:00 in my normally-bright living and dining rooms. It’s cold, dark, and rainy out there. Supposed to clear up/warm up tomorrow, though.

I ended up making railroad beef curry, egg noodles, green beans sautéed with slivered almonds. Plus earlier for lunch I made a quinoa salad with black beans, cumin, avocado, linen juice and tomato and there are leftovers.

It is raining cats and dogs here. I am not looking forward to a week of this. Thanks for the congrats for DS scrapmaven and lucyg. He didn't even want to apply to other colleges when in HS because UCSC was the only place he was interested in going. I persuaded him to keep his options open but in the end he decided he's rather go to the local CC for a couple years and try transfer in UCSC as a junior instead of going anywhere else. His major is impacted everywhere so he's thrilled to have choices for next year, although I'd be shocked if it isn't UCSC. It is a beautiful campus and I'm looking forward to spending more time in the area (whether DS wants us to or not ).

Just being helpful.

I would be enjoying this quarantine a lot more if I could get up and around to do stuff. I have been bedridden since January and have still not been cleared to walk (Charcot Foot in one of my feet) I was on crutches immediately before this since November for an enormous blister on the bottom of my foot from new shoes. I'm diabetic and my doctor told me I had to stay off it or it wouldn't get better. So basically I've been not able to walk around since November. I have all these ideas of things I want to do, things I want to cook, and I'm dependent on my dh to help with it all. So, I've about reached the end of endurance of being cooped up, but you just keep going. I also have fibromyalgia that flares up, and you other peas with fibro know how that is. I'll look on the bright side... I don't have covid-19! *fingers crossed* We are having frozen beer battered fish and potato wedges....annnnd the smoke alarm just went off! Poor DH, he's been such a trooper! HAHA he just came running in here with earplugs for me! I do have to say coming back to the boards has helped a lot towards helping me to stay sane, so thank you all!

ETA hugs, SunnySmile, I didn't realize you were bedridden. My MIL has a lot of diabetes related foot problems now and it is so difficult for her to not go hard all day long looking after everyone else.

I’ve started a new thing... letting the girls choose and cook dinner one night a week, each.
Tonight Kiki (my 11 year old) wanted to make “potato chip chicken”. It’s something she’s had at her best friends house, who she misses VERY much.
It was pretty good... she also made mashed potatoes and steamed veggies.
Miss Lerin isn’t as adventurous of a cook, she chose breakfast sandwiches as her dish to cook, LOL

We had rechauffed lasagne, with potato wedges. Even though I am enjoying having more time to cook, I rather enjoyed having a night off cooking. We ate dinner outside around the fire, then played cards for a couple of hours. ETA AussieMeg, I bought corn flakes at the supermarket today. Hopefully there will be some honey joys in our near future. Ooooh good, I hope so! I'm going to have to make another batch, because mine went very quickly. Remember to put in extra honey - my son told me that men had the *perfect* amount of honey (I used double). This is there next one I'm going to make: Froot Loop Slice. It looks like your Rice Krispie Treats with marshmallow, with the additional of Froot Loops. The only problem is I couldn't find real Froot Loops the other day, so I had to buy the supermarket home brand, and they aren't anywhere near as nice as the real thing.

I have some yarn on order from JoAnn's. I went and checked the website finally, it hasn't even processed yet! I guess waiting is part of the deal these days. JoAnn's probably sent all their workers home, so that's actually a good thing.

Turkey meatball stroganoff and garden salads was tonight's supper.
Right now I have a bunch of lemon slices dehydrating in my dehydrator. Yes, you can do that! And then put the slices in a mug or glass of tea to flavor it.
I have two Meyer lemon trees and between them I get a laundry basket and a half of lemons every year. It's late enough in the year where they're blooming so the old lemons all have to come off before it gets hot enough to rot them off.
I freeze a lot of juice, and dehydrate some slices. Some years I make lemon curd and limoncello. I like to save the peels and steep them in white vinegar to make homemade surface cleaner. I don't bake a lot with the juice and zest. I may make some candied lemon peel strips this year. But probably not, I'm conserving my sugar. I need to dehydrate some zest too.

I buy Froot Loops every school holidays, which is 4 times a year. Sometimes more often during the summer holidays because they go for 7 weeks instead of just 2 weeks. It's as much for me as for DS - I could eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Froot Loops were the cereal the kids always got at Grandma's house and DS had a terrible time come up with a birthday list one year so I bought him a box of treats. His birthday is a couple weeks before Christmas and he always saves the cereal until Winter Break, enjoying a bowl a day until it is done. He'd be heartbroken if it isn't there every year.

SunnySmile , your post resonated w/me. Are you able to get up and go to your family room? Many years ago I was almost wheelchair bound full time. I have RSDS, arthritis, non-diabetic neuropathy, blah blah blah. Finally, I purchased a mobility scooter and used that to get around the house. Now I only have to use it when I'm going to be out for a long time and that's due to extreme fatigue. I see a specialist who put my RSDS into remission and got me back on my feet full-time. On occasion, I do use a walker and I often use my cane. It's hard to be cooped up at home. I get it. My illness keeps me from enjoying the normal life that most people have. Being able to go outside in your backyard or at least being in a different room during the day can really help a lot. My doctor, (a podiatrist by trade)works w/many diabetics as well as fibro patients, etc. He is out of state and is out of network with all insurance, but he gets people to stop having pain and people roll in and then walk out of his clinic. I've seen it numerous times. He doesn't use meds, nor will you find a needle in his office. If you're interested PM me. I sound like a salesman. One of his new patients was down there for one of my checkups and she thought I was a plant. Not a plant, just a long time patient who's body is no longer on fire. There is hope and it's real. teddyw , we encountered truly stupid people after my dad died. It was a whole level of irritating. I feel for you.

I had planned to grill some steaks for dinner, but the rain moved in just before time to crank up the Green Egg. Couldn't hold off on cooking the meat another day so I did some digging and came up with Alton Brown's Cast Iron Steak Recipe. It's a combination of high heat in the oven, a cast iron skillet and searing on high heat on the stove. I was shocked at how tender and tasty the steaks came out! First time I've ever had success cooking a steak indoors! For a side, I rewarmed some Haricot Vert left in the fridge by tossing them in the skillet. Added a nice flavor to them as well.
Lemons - I mainly use it in lemonade or plain water, though I do cook with it as well. The neighbor behind us has a huge tree and many end up on my side of the fence. They are big lemons, but very mild. Not sure what variety. My favorite lemon is the Meyer Lemon.
