My bff is quarantining from her family so I want to send her a mail order birthday cake. I'm thinking of THIS one from Wolferman's after reading the pea praise for their english muffins. Have you ever had a cake shipped? Any other suggestions for companies that ship cakes? Would you be comfortable eating mail order food with the current Covid mess?

I tried Cookies by Cheryl ( part of the same company as Wolferman's) and even though it said 2 day shipping, they wouldn't guarantee it would arrive on the day I needed it to. Instead I order a marionberry cheesecake from one of their other companies ( Harry & David's) and it was delivered on the day I requested. It was a huge success as to the taste.

I just ordered my son a birthday cake and pizzas from TasteOfChicago. He loves their food and has ordered from them before. It should be delivered tomorrow so we'll see haha

My sister sent me one from Milk Bar and it was outstanding. It was expensive though.

I’ve never done cake, but have ordered many times from their sister company (Cheryl’s Cookies). I wouldn’t hesitate to order a cake, but would be a little concerned of possible shipping delays right now.

I shipped a Nothing Bundt Cake to my son for his birthday in January, and he said it was delicious. They are locally owned franchises, if there is one near your friend.

I guess not "mail order," but I have "sent" cakes a couple times. Once for my college student in San Francisco, sent vegan cupcakes to his dorm. He LOVED them, and also loved the sentiment. We live a long way from California, so it was a nice surprise. I didn't ship it, though, I had it delivered. I looked up vegan bakeries close to his campus so they wouldn't have to travel far, and chose one based on the YELP reviews. Same with my daughter in NYC during college: looked up reviews online and had one delivered that was in close proximity to her place. Both times the products were very fresh and the kids said they were delicious!

How about Georgetown cupcakes? I just got a delivery from them a couple weeks ago, love their cupcakes. They will also ship cupcakes. Link to Georgetown Cupcakes: www.georgetowncupcake.com/
