We have started going for a lot of walks now since the quarantine started. I would love to have one of those devices that you wear as a watch and it tracks your steps and miles. I don't need it to do anything else, but if it tells time too, that would be great! I don't want to spend a lot, just something simple works.

I love my FitBit Versa 2. It tracks all your activities, sleep (and even oxygen level now), receive emails, texts, calendar alerts, set alarms. I believe mine was $130 and then I bought a fabric band on Amazon for about $10 and a rubber bumper case to protect the glass for a few bucks.

I would be fine with something very simple, I am technology challenged, so I would probably just use it for tracking steps and miles. But I will look at it, the price is good!

I have a fit bit charge 3. I love it because it’s waterproof and can count my distance while I’m swimming laps in the pool. 😁

I have a Fitbit Inspire HR. $99. I specifically wanted the heart rate feature in addition to step tracking. It does have other features, like time telling and alarm setting. You can us the app to set a goal - the default is 10000 steps and it buzzes and makes a celebrate picture when you hit the goal. You can use bluetooth/a smartphone and get tiny notifications but I don't use that feature. You can change the way the tiny display looks. On the con list is the charger is this weird USB magnetic coupling thing that the smallest bump will dislodge.

Older dd : charge 3 Younger dd : inspire HR
The charge 3 always works and does more than the inspire HR. We find the inspire HR gives us more problems - we have to re synch so often to get it up and running again. My older dd loves her Charge 3. We changed the band to something more sleek. The band that came with the inspire HR was great.

I am technology challenged, and I want to just look at the phone to track steps and miles. I don't know what you mean by re synch so I will probably look at the charge 3. I think my problem is I am so low tech that they don't make things for people like me because we are in the minority! The only things I use my phone for is calls, texts take pictures a couple things on internet. I don't use 95% of it's features!
That's great that you can change the band. I was looking for some (I had no idea what these things are called!) and most had black bands, and I wanted a light color.

All fitbits need to be synced with the app on a device to set up the tracking info like sleep, steps, etc or else it can’t track your info over time to come up with averages / trends. On both of the models I mentioned you set the face design from about 20 choices that show time, step count, etc from just looking at the face. You can choose how you see the time (dial, digital, etc). Then you curser through the other info, like scroll up to see number of active minutes in the day, heart rate, etc. Both of my girls receive texts and call notifications. Both watched are waterproof. It is a delicate front though (can scratch or break when touched to concrete or tile in pools). Both of my girls can adjust their activity (change it to walk or run or bike) and they are told when to move every hour if they haven’t moved enough. Sometimes they wake up and the time is incorrect. They re synch with the app on their device and then the watch resets and the time goes back to normal. Sometimes the inspire hr has trouble tracking little dd’s sleep and she has to re synch. The same thing happens with a time change.

I’ve had several and the Flex are the cheapest and longest lasting. I wish they told the time though.

I've had a Charge and a Versa. I loved the look of my Charge and it worked fine for what I needed at the time. But I did want more of a smart watch so I went with the Versa. Loved it! But it did die on me about 1.5-2 yrs in. I have a Samsung Active now which is more than you want. If you can still find a Charge, I would go with that.

Charge 4 is being released on April 4. Definitely worth a look. It appears to have some significant functional updates.

I recently replaced my dead Alta with an Inspire HR. For me it was all about size, I have a very small wrist and some of those FitBits are huge. I do hate the new magnetic charger though

I have the Fitbit charge 3 and love it. It’s waterproof, which is a big plus. Mine is the lavender rose gold and it’s pretty enough to wear as my every day watch. I had the Garmin Vivofit before this one and liked that as well.

I bought a cheap smart watch & have been very pleased with it. It has some of the features of a fancier Apple Watch (can read texts, get phone call notifications, get some app notifications) but you can disable all those and just use it as a fitness tracker. You can see the progress via an app on your phone or just on the watch itself. I love that you can also set up to 8 reminders throughout the day - I have one every hour from 8:30-5:30 reminding me to drink water. It’s currently $30 and I’ve been using it since December. Thanks for the great recommendations! I probably won't use any features other than tracking steps, distance and time. I like having the watch to track because I could track my steps all day, not just on a walk. I don't carry my phone around with me, it usually stays in my purse, so even though my phone is able to track, I don't carry it around all day. I have a google phone, so I can't get the smart watch like my kids with iphones have. Also, my vision is so bad I wouldn't even be able to see text on my phone. I am going to research what you all have recommended. I appreciate your help!

I had a Flex that died after years of use. I bought an Inspire without the HR part. Then I paid $19.99 for a separate part that I can use to clip onto my shoelaces or a piece of clothing rather than have it on my wrist. I LOVE it. AND it tells the time!

I have had the Alta HR and the Versa HR. The battery on my Alta lasted about a week. My versa battery lasts 2-3 days. Not sure why though. Other than the shorter battery life, I like the Versa better.

I got an inspire HR fitbit for Christmas and have found it glitchy. Sometimes when I run it just stops recording data. Have to restart, reboot, recharge too much....It takes a long time to sync heart rate with the phone app so sometimes I just give up. I wanted real time heart rate data but it just gives an average over a few minutes. .. I wanted to see what my heart rate peaks at during intervals. Download the fitbit app and go to discussions and troubleshooting and you will see what some people have experienced. Also stopped wearing watch in public cause it is just one more place for germs to hide. Jeez I guess I needed to vent it is not as terrible as I make it sound. It works ok if you don't get overly invested in it working all the time. It was fun to watch my sleep cycles but then I felt like it was cutting my circulation off at night to my hand!
