Poor kid, he had such plans! He and two pals were headed to the VIP theater (comfy reclining seats, serves alcohol) to watch the new Bond movie. Get a drink or two while watching the movie and then head back to a friend's to keep having a few more.
Now?
He will be stuck at home drinking with his sad parents lol. He can't even go to a liquor store today to make his first official purchase - it's Good Friday and all the stores are closed.
I did wait in a VERY long line at the liquor store yesterday to get a small bottle of tequila. We will do a shot with him in celebration lol.

Happy birthday to your son! DD is also 19 today but we're in Alberta so she got her official drinking year last year. I'll put that into perspective for her. She was ok with all this stay home stuff until she realized her birthday was Friday of the long weekend and that will never happen again and it will be years before it's on a Friday again. She's not as big of a partier as some and doesn't have a huge circle of friends but she still had been planing to hang out with them.

happy bday to your son!
my DD turned 19 on halloween. she was bummed she couldn't really go to a club... they are *nuts* on halloween and one friend was 19 but the other two weren't.
i offered she could have a small party at our old house (we had moved out and it was sold but hadn't closed yet). she was thrilled. she has mentioned that she can't believe she is barely 19 and likely won't feel safe going out to a club for a year or two now! (speaking of silver linings thread - maybe that is one for me... lol!)
any way your boy could facetime with friends while watching a new (ish) movie on cineplexstore.ca while enjoying a drink with some popcorn? mine has been playing card games with friends on facetime too.

Happy BD to your son, we are in Ottawa and DD and her BFF are both 18 at the end of the month..... they are MOST upset they can’t go over to quebec to celebrate...... I did try to put a positive spin and remind her that when life is back to “normal” (fingers crossed by the summer) her GF will also be 18 so they can all go out.
I am tempted to let her have a FaceTime drink with the bestie but DH is a rule follower.
Have a good time celebrating. I think there will be some big “make up” celebrations once we are able

Happy 19th! I love the idea of getting the neighbors to come out and toast him.

My youngest turns 19 in May and I don't know how many times shes asked if I think this will be over by then lol. The other day she asked if she could at least go to the liquor store on her birthday...I'm considering it, right now I'm the only one going to the stores.

Happy birthday to your ds! I'm in Alberta where the legal age is 18 ... it's dumb that the age isn't the same in every province Our liquor stores are open today too

My dd turned 18 (legal drinking age here) two weeks ago just after we went into full on lockdown. I can sympathise. She’d already had her weekend in Venice cancelled, then the theatre trip we hastily planned, then the cinema trip we planned instead, then the dinner out. Finally the night before her birthday the take away we’d promised her closed their doors too. You couldn’t make it up!
Hope your ds has a great birthday with you. DD pointed out that not many people got to spend their 18ths “staying in & saving lives”
Enjoy your shots 🥃

Happy birthday to your DS!
DD turns 21 in a week. Luckily the liquor stores in Minnesota are deemed essential, so I’m sure DS will take her for her first purchase. Luckily, she spent last semester abroad in Ireland and drank plenty. But still...it’s a right of passage at a time when our kids have given up so much.

A friend of mine set up a 'pub crawl' throughout the house for her child's birthday. Each room had its own signature drink... LOL

Happy birthday to your DS! It does suck having to miss milestones.
DS was looking forward to his BFF's 21st and having a legal drinking partner. He turned 21 after all the bars & restaurants shut down and it just isn't the same toasting a friend over social media.
