She has a pot of water boiling on the stove then put the glass (like Yankee Candle jar) in the pot. Then she’s pouring the melted wax into little Dixie cups. The big candle jars only seem to melt down halfway before the wick gets lost or there’s just a big hole in the center of the candle and wax on the sides. She’s been a candle jar collector. This could take all day. What is your daughter using for wicks for her new candles? hockeymom4 Thanks, that was what she was going to do... Haven’t sorted out the wick.... I think she googled and DH has whatever she wants to use (string of some sort maybe???) She was talking about doing this a few days ago but hasn’t actually done anything yet!!! I found that using a 1-inch candle works really well for the wick and to have some stability with the added hot wax. I make "ice cube" candles. In a well rinsed milk carton (cut the top off), place the candle in the middle. Surround the candle with various sizes of ice cubes. Pour the hot melted wax over the ice cubes. They will melt at different rate of time and create a unique holey look. When completely cooled down, remove the cardboard milk carton. Really pretty when it burns.

I used to do this when I was growing up. Think 40+ years ago! LOL. The candles really are pretty.

I have been working on my cookie decorating skills. Just made a batch of Easter shaped sugar cookies tonight and tomorrow I will decorate.

Where did you get the switch? DH is looking and couldn't find one. My daughter ordered the most basic one; (handheld?) through Best Buy. She said it was all they had available.

elaine what a lovely post. He will get such a sense of achievement and an extra skill. Fabulous. Can the bread machine also make dough for pizza? You could open a whole new area for him and perhaps your younger son could do the toppings?

When I moved into this apartment almost 2 years ago I wanted to decorate my patio/balcony. I've been working on it during this isolation time and it is my new happy place! I've had to go to Lowe's a few times to buy plants and supplies - but it was worth it (I know - Bad Cindy). I love getting up in the afternoon (haha) and sitting on the patio looking at all the blooming flowers and feeling the cool breeze. I also love tending to and talking to my plants. I wanted to share pics of it with y'all - but when I tried to upload them they were too big. Dang it. Cindy ETA: I'm going to try to link to my flickr account. link

I think that we will use it tomorrow to make the dough for fresh dinner rolls for Easter dinner. Younger son may be able to help shaping the rolls - they don’t need to be perfect balls.
