When did my usual brand of hot dogs downsize to 7 in a pack? It used to be 10, then 9, then 8. I was fine with that. 9 or 10 gave me a couple extra dogs leftover to throw in some macaroni and cheese or something, 8 was exactly the right amount for DH and I to have 2 meals. But 7? Come on, hot dog company! There are 8 buns in the average pack of buns. Now I have a leftover bun, and I'm one dog short of a meal!

Food companies are constantly doing this, like we are not gonna notice. I opened a pop-tart today to find it reduced in size. Again. It makes me mad, because usually the price has increased, too.

What brand is it? Maybe we should all email them a complaint.

Our toilet paper keeps getting skinnier too. And cereal boxes are thinner.

It’s like that scene in Father of the Bride where Steve Martin goes off about the big shots at the weiner companies and the bun companies getting together to figure out how to screw the American people! It’s such a funny scene. 😄

I'm having the same problem with a bag of frozen salmon fillets I got from Sam's. I know its sold by weight, but it was very frustrating to open it up and realize there are 7 fillets in there. The 4 of us love salmon so 7 fillets don't work well for us!

Whaaaat? The six rolls equals 72 rolls isn't true?

Oh, the narrow toilet paper rolls are a pet peeve of mine! Pretty soon we'll be able to put two of them side by side on the holder - or maybe I should repurpose one of my ribbon holders, so I can offer a variety of different TP styles...

I never understood boxes of 10. I used to have to buy treats for kids for soccer and always had to buy two boxes to get enough for a team of 12. Unless you have one, two or five kids a box of 10 never works out evenly mathematically. 12 works for 1,2,3,4, and 6 kids. Get it together manufacturers!
I hate the hotdog/bun numbers thing too!

LOL 10 usually works pretty well for a teacher. 25 or 26 kids really throw off the numbers. Packs of 24 for school items makes me crazy.

I'm positive the Kirkland brand (Costco) toilet paper was always 6 packs of 6 rolls. The last 2 we bought are 5 packs of 6 rolls.

I've notice the bottles of juice and bags of chips are getting smaller.
The "family size" bag of chips are more like medium-ish size. Looks bigger, but once it's open 1/3 of the bag has chips in it, the rest is air.

I've been reading articles lately that due to schools, restaurants, etc. closing down, farmers have huge food surpluses that they're having to throw away. Food manufacturers, start buying more food and bump your food products back up to what they used to be. And don't raise the price!
I realize it's not that simple but still...
And agreed with all of you on numbers and sizes.

I've been reading articles lately that due to schools, restaurants, etc. closing down, farmers have huge food surpluses that they're having to throw away. NBC news had a story yesterday showing farmers plowing up fields of perfectly good food - corn, tomatoes, beans... Because restaurants aren't open to buy them. It was sickening, especially since it was preceded by a story showing thousands of people waiting in line at food banks to get food to feed their families. My first thought was maybe the farmers were destroying crops to be able to make insurance claims, but the story pointed out the losses wouldn't be eligible for insurance coverage.

Established supply chains and contracts don’t redirect easily. Dairies are pouring milk down the drain because they are not supplying schools. Amazing. Makes one realize just how smoothly it worked before.

I know! And it irritates me! I just bought the Costco mega pack of Charmin and when I went to put it away, I sat it on the shelf next to the Cottonelle that I usually prefer and noticed how much taller the Charmin rolls were. They’ve been making the Cottonelle shorter and shorter. I won’t be buying it again and will repeat the Charmin purchase just because it is a “normal” sized roll.
