Happy new week, tribe. We're one week closer to getting our lives back. Tonight's menu will feature carnitas. I'll make rice to go w/it and a small portion of summer corn salad for yds. Everyone enjoys this meal.
What's on your menu?
Now that we're all settled into a routine how are you approaching meals? Do you plan or do you take it day by day? I have been planning 2 weeks worth of meals. Makes it much easier for me and we shop accordingly.
Try and enjoy the week ,tribe. Do what you can to get through it w/smiles.

I'm planning at least a week's worth of meals, probably two, but not which day they will happen all the time. So I have a list of meals to choose from and then can't always decide from day to day.
Looking at my planner, I think we are grilling hamburgers tonight for dinner.
I do need to get the turkey out of the freezer so that we can have a thanksgiving feast later this week.

Hi, guys! I'm having a slow morning and I am just hanging in to lunch time to go for a run. I am wishing I was not working today. I could go for a scheduled day off. Of course that probably stems from the fact that I was a sloth all weekend and today I've woken up with energy and a desire to clean and unfortunately working is getting in the way. haha.
I'm making breakfast burritos for dinner tonight. I'm looking forward to it.

Dinner here tonight is an Indian style chicken and aubergine curry, served with rice. We make up a rough weekly menu each weekend, usually after DH does the Saturday shopping run. We’ve done this for ages, not just since the corona outbreak. Sometimes we switch things up, due to weather changes or ingredients that need using up. We also have a list of meals we like and haven’t had for a while, so we can add them to a menu when we run out of other ideas. I am also finding idea from here, and from what my family is making. So far, we have cooked every night since I’ve been back from Australia, but DH said we might do takeout one night this week. He’s been going on long walks since he’s been working from home, and noticing a lot of restaurants we didn’t know about, so we’re going to try one out.

Good morning! scrapmaven How are you feeling? How have your tests turned out? Thanks for the thread. You would think with me staying home that I could be more organized and plan one or two weeks of meals. But even when I plan one day I get vetoed by the men folk in my house. So it’s always fly by your pants. And possibly eat crap if you don’t want what I cook. Three of us loved the chicken tetrazzini and one didn’t even try it. Or should I say four of us loved it; because the dog loved it too and one didn’t even try it. jeremysgirl I am so proud of you sticking to your running. You were doing an excellent thing for your health! There are days with my knee hurts so bad that just walking around the house hurts. I really need to go back to the gym when it opens and start doing the pool. That water resistance really helped and I could do a lot more things and walk long distances and get things done in the house without it hurting. Tonight, one wants fish sticks, french fries and I will add a vegetable. And I’m also going to make chili. Because that’s what I want to eat. So there will be two dinners in one. And hopefully I don’t have to cook tomorrow night. I am keeping all of you in my prayers and sending hugs to all of you.

You know I used to visit Raley's almost every day. I've gotten much better at planning and now go every 7-10 days ~ mainly because I need fresh fruits and vegetables. I wear a mask and sanitize before I get in my car and wash my hands after unloading my groceries. I do not wipe everything down before putting it in the pantry.
For dinner tonight I'm making bean soup with the ham bone from Easter. It is going to get warmer really soon so I need to have soup while it's still mild.
I stole this meme from the Funny Meme's thread here on 2Peas because it cracked me up:
Hmm, it didn't attach correctly so this is what it said: I WANT AN HGTV SHOW CALLED "HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR OPEN CONCEPT NOW?"

I WANT AN HGTV SHOW CALLED "HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR OPEN CONCEPT NOW?" I may have to post that to facebook I am wishing I was not working today. I could go for a scheduled day off. Of course that probably stems from the fact that I was a sloth all weekend and today I've woken up with energy and a desire to clean and unfortunately working is getting in the way. haha. I have this issue a lot. Of course, not having a real start and stop time is messing with me too. I work all night half the time because it is just there to do.

Good morning lovely ladies!
I make a list of meals that I have all ( or at least most ) of the ingredients in the house and we choose from one of those each morning.
Tonite is something with leftover pork, I'm leaning toward pork fried rice. But I also have pork stuffed baked potatoes or pork enchiladas as options. I'm going to freeze what we don't eat tonite so that it doesn't go to waste.
I hope everyone has a great day and feels productive at the end of the day, I say this because that's what makes me happy at the end of the day when I look back at the day.

Cute meme cadoodlebug. destined2bmom, thank you for asking. I had a good cardiac scare. At this point, I've been put on a couple meds for it and that has helped the symptoms, but they're not completely abated just yet. They're increasing my fluid infusions, as well. I'm guessing it takes a bit of time. It's very different than my normal issues. I loved it when the hospital dietician told me to cut the fat out of my diet. I don't eat any fat at all. If I could, it'd be a miracle. She was trying to get me to change a diet I don't have. NO fast food, etc. HAHAHHAHAHA! When I explained that I don't have a diet she was gobsmacked. Nice person, but didn't know how to respond.

I know that hospitals are overrun with the virus; but there has got to be a game plan to help you? What is the rest of your Doctor team Thinking that it is? I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

We appreciate the update scrapmaven. Thinking of you today and, as always, I appreciate the positive way you begin the thread each day.
This morning I went by the school and met a family who built us a little free library to put outside the school. I get a lot of emails from parents looking for book suggestions. We have access to thousands of books online, but kids still really like to read a real book. I need to get in the building this week to get to my free books and stock up the little library.
I'm meal planning a week at a time, but each night is still a surprise. Tonight will be a small pan of lasagna, garlic bread and a salad.
I read about a lot of worry, sadness, stress and sorrow in yesterday's thread. BIG HUGS to everyone here.

Well I missed a 💩 storm yesterday didn't I?! Wow.
Ds had PE and now there is some down time till his next 2 classes. We read some books and he is watching the yard guy from the front window. He said "it's not Thursday." LOL that is their normal day. Do we even have normal anymore?!
Tonight will be Bobboli Pizza for dh and I along with green salads and dd can either have a hot dog, tuna, or breakfast items.
Enjoy your Monday ladies!

Ds has access to Epic Books, News To You, Scholastic, Suess-ville, and another on line book source. While he enjoys the interactive features, he still loves real books!

As far as meals, I have always weekly planned. Sometimes meals are assigned to days, other times I make the executive decision in the morning.
Only difference is I meal plan after I get my groceries in case I don't receive an item.
Scrapmaven: what caediac screens? Lack of fluids can certainly cause various issues. If dd doesn't get at least 90oz of water she gets tachy

Another day painting, urrgh! I think I’ll be finished (except with the second bedroom) by the end of the week, and then I’m taking a break for a week or two trying to catch up with all the things I should have done at home, but haven’t.
Made lasagne today.

All that sounds a bit scary to me scrapmaven. I'll send my prayers and my hugs. And destined2bmom I just keep waiting for the running to get easier. So far, not any easier. I still hate it pretty much. If you could get some time in a pool, that would help you build strength in your knee.

Just did a grocery pickup this morning so there is plenty of fresh fruit and veggies for the week now. Dinner will be sliders and some veggies that I'll roast in the oven.
Dinner here is typically by the seat of our pants. Typically, I can't get DH to commit to anything, so I wing it. Sometimes he'll eat it and sometimes not. I just don't worry about him anymore and have started to prepare what I like. I have the freezer and pantry very well stocked now, so he's not going to starve anytime soon!

I’m bored with the same ol’ same ol’ rotation, so I want to be a bit more ambitious. I’m making bao for tonight’s dinner. Maybe paired with a very simple soup.

We finally got a grill! DH has been waiting for the after season sales since last summer. LOL. Never saw any good deals, so he bought one this weekend. We will do hamburgers tonight with sweet potato fries. YUM! Low on fruits and veggies, but my Misfits box is coming tomorrow. Then I can meal plan the rest of the week.

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be enjoying pasta with a meat of some kind and maybe a vegetable...….
That above also explains my meal planning.....I know what we eat so when I grocery shop I get a large package of talipia or swai and a package of salmann….fish is covered until I need to grocery shop again....then I pick up a large bag of chicken tenders and either a large bag of legs or thighs....chicken taken care of......then I pick up kielbasa or beef ring sausage....itty bitty cheese things....5# of ground pork and 5# of ground chuck.....all beef hot dogs..shrimp...so there you go enough meat for about a month......when we go to sam's club we get the 6 or 8 packs of green beans, corn, and beets......we keep some soup, bullion cubes and better then bullion along with some tomato sauce and fire roasted tomatoes......with the normal flour, sugar, and spices we can eat for a long time on what we keep on hand....so we decide what we want from the normal food that we almost always have on hand....I try to keep onions, mushrooms, and potatoes on hand at all times.....if not we do have some canned mushrooms and dried onions.....when I grocery shop I pick up the things we are missing from our usual on hand food and just get that instead of meals per say....
So I am not really a meal planner but rather a bulk shopper and freezer food keeper......I can leave work at 5 and have a tasty meal ready by 6 using what I have on hand.....I do not buy too many new to us or unusual things because we seem to hate most things made from new ingredients but like new things made from these same ingredients....we are crazy, what can I say...…
Happy Monday Everybody!

Tonight is another mystery. I would really like fish n chips to be honest. I know I cook healthy food for my dad but just for a change some good, olde grease sounds nice. I might even like malt vinegar with my fish n chips.
This is subject to change of course.
