Being a life-long Michigander, this article made me chuckle: 33 Things People from Michigan Have to ExplainSome commentary from me: Item 4-The blue is Blue Moon. Don't ask me what it tastes like; but most kids love it. Item 8 - Weirdness itself. Combine these with traffic circles (suicide circles, as I refer to them) on an icy day and driving becomes very interesting. Item 21- They are delicious. I prefer them with gravy, but some like ketchup better. Oh, and the "a" is prononunced like the "a" in cat. The other pronunciation refers to something a stripper might wear.

I'm a Texan, but a summer Michigander at heart. I laughed at these! I've seen the pasties at the store, but never tasted them. And my kids have all graduated from Superman ice cream, but yep, they all ate it when they were little.

We recently got Michigan turns in Indianapolis, and they're freaking crazy. But after reading that, it just must be our traffic people that are crazy. Our signs state that (for example) if you're driving west and you want to go south, at the light go north, then turn around at the turnaround light to go south. I always go through the light to the turnaround, then turn right to go south, which is what that diagram said to do. Always seemed stupid to me the way the signs say to go, and it turns out I'm right!

A Montanan call tell an out of stater. They are the ones putting that nasty ketchup on a perfectly good pasty.

Number 22 is incorrect. The Mackinac Bridge is nicknamed the Mighty Mac, not the Big Mac.

Number 26 is also incorrect, the two seasons in MI are winter and construction - not summer and construction. Those potholes are famous!

I have never heard of coney chili being called "Michigan sauce", and the bottle return law was in effect LONG before 2004. And it's winter and construction, not summer and construction! Otherwise, these are fairly accurate!

According to my Butte descended of the original Montana pioneers in- laws, all those Irish/Scottish/welsh miners didn't put anything on them.

As an "honorary" Montanan (I went to school in Missoula) I say hear hear to this. Ketchup on a pasty just makes me shudder. and crave a good pasty which I haven't had in years. OTOH,I've never seen them outside of Montana, so I learned something new today.
When I was pregnant with my youngest, I craved the blue ice cream. We call just the blue superman here. I would get it by the pint at BR and make shakes with sprite and ice cream. DH thought I was nuts.

1). Michigan Lefts are actually not just a Michigan thing, they have some in San Antonio also per my last trip there. 2). Euchre is definitely not just a Michigan thing, I learned that as a kid in Ohio.
The can return is probably my most hated thing about living in Michigan. Plus I have to say that people in Michigan are nicer to Ohio State fans like me, than people in Columbus are to Michigan fans.
