We have 3 Burger Kings within a 3-mile radius from our house. I like to go because they do caffeine-free Diet Coke in the drive-through - so that is my treat these days.
Ds2 has been wanting a BK milkshake as a treat. One has been out of shakes for weeks. When we tried a few days ago, the 2 we went to were now out of shakes. So, we “settled” for Chick-fil-a shakes (made me happy, but ds wanted BK).
Today, ds2 and I went for a curbside pick-up of a new Keurig (mine died this morning) at BestBuy. We went to the third BK by our house, they had a sign up stating that they were not only out of milkshakes, but also onion rings and ham (for breakfast sandwiches) too. We had to go to McD’s for shakes and lunch for the boys - I hate McDs food, so settled for just a Diet Coke and made soup for lunch at home.
I have no idea what is up with BKs supply chain - they have lost out of 3 separate family meals from us in the past 3 weeks because they aren’t re-supplying their shakes at any of the restaurants around us.
How are the fast food places near you doing with their supply chains? Any noticeable shortages/outages of your preferred fast food menu items?

I probably eat fast food about once a week and haven't noticed anything. As an aside, I went to my local Chik Fil A on Saturday and the line for the drive through was all the way around the building. I almost said "nope!" but took the waiting time to download the app and put in my order. I then pulled into curbside orders parking and got my order lickety split!

We only have Subway in our town but there is a BK in the town where I shop. We went a few weeks ago and everything was okay. I noticed McDonald's has a limited menu when I stopped for fountain Coke last week.

The McDonald's closest to our house was having water issues and would be closed at random. One DS loves their milkshakes and nuggets. One day he decided to get lunch and they were closed so he drove a half mile down the road to Wendy's and discovered he likes their frosties better and they're cheaper. McDonald's finally got their problem fixed and now have super long lines. DS is still going to Wendy's once a week now which kinda bummed me out because I would give him a couple dollars for a caramel frappe.
An old school friend is a manager for a nearby Burger King. She said something about the place that makes their shakes having a temporary shut down. Not sure if that's regional or not.

I'm not normally a fast food person, but have been wanting Taco Bell for a couple of weeks. Tues, I pulled into the drive through and noticed that there were only a couple of cars ahead of me. (That should have told me something.) When I ordered they told me they were out of lettuce.

I have three 2 liters of caffeine free diet coke sitting in my foyer- the Shipt shopper brought those instead of caffeine free coke. So, if you want to drive to Michigan lol, you can check out the BK around the corner for shakes and I will give you caff free diet coke!

I haven’t noticed, but I’m not surprised with all these food chain plants being forced to or voluntarily shut down. Bound to interrupt the supply chains at some point.

I would think it's a combination of closed food plants and individual locations having cut back on the amounts of things they are ordering because of decreased business and then having unexpected busy days and running out of things.
When I worked at a fast food restaurant, I did the ordering for many many years, and it was tricky to have to predict what people were going to want a lot of 3 or 4 days down the road. You want enough of perishable items, but not so much that you end up throwing it away. The issues are similar to grocery shopping for your family, except on a much larger scale.

I ordered Torchy's today through Door Dash and they only had half of the taco choices. My food was not great either. I won't be going back for a while.

We had Arby’s and Chick Fil A pick up last week (a few days apart) no problem. All of our Starbucks and Waffle House nearby is closed even for pick ups. Had a local coffee shop pick up this morning, it was my usual order and really good. I hope they can survive.

We've only been to Wendy's for food. They were out of onions, coke, and small cups yesterday. I wanted a coke but opted for no drink at all. They didn't seem too pleased about that. The window employee and the manager had masks that were pulled down below their noses.

I learned this year that fixing the ice cream machines at mcdonalds is not easy. There were McDonalds all over the Pa and Ohio that couldn't serve ice cream because of it. Each place machine was broken for a long time. Maybe its the same for burger king and not a food issue.

There's only one within a few miles of my home. I went there today to get their $4.99 deal of 2 chicken sandwiches and 2 small fries. They were out of whopper buns! I can't remember the other items, but you could basically order fish or chicken.

Food supply chains are in serious danger right now, I suggest you stock up on food. Processing plants are shutting down. this won't just affect meat, literally every single thing you buy, is at risk of closing temporarily for cv19.
Our mcdonalds (very smallish town) has a limited menu right now.

Burger King in Canada seems to be on the decline - several have closed in our area. I love their onion rings and zesty sauce though!
So yesterday after we packed DD up and all got in our cars to head home, I left first and hit the BK near her. Sign on the speaker box said they were closed to give staff a break.
So I hit the road and stopped at one on the way home. It was closed too! Must have been a Canada wide thing. I tried one more (yep I did) and had to settle for fries from McDs....

I’m sad for all the chains that are having food supply issues. It sounds like it is hit or miss as to which areas are having issues and which aren’t.
The drive-throughs here have had more cars in line than is typical, so I think they would be doing okay if they could stock everything. Our McDonalds had an abbreviated menu too.
We live in a heavily populated suburban area though - lots of people who eat out. I think that fast food places near our house in rural WV are really hurting - but they weren’t very busy to start with.

Also my friend at Panera bread said that their business is just so random. They don't know what to order or the week/day. They operate a limited menu. Some days they are busy and run out of things. And other times they have to donate most of the bread they made that day. So I think its just hard right now.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo missing McD's AND Burger King. The lockdown here is so rigid that the drive thru places had to close too. I think they were only allowed open one week into the lockdown and then they closed. What I wouldn't give for some McD fries right now!

Agreed that BK has some kickass milkshakes though. Even here.
But I have started making Oreo milkshakes that the kids love. Take a small container of vanilla ice cream. Put all of it in a blender. You need three packs of Oreos. Then I pour milk into that until it is 2/3 full. If you want it thicker maybe do 1/2 full. Blend until you see the cookies and ice cream mixed in. Really yummy!

At the end of last year all the BK’s in my area closed. They were owned by the same person. Not sure why.
I typically only go to the drive through for Diet Coke. I love fountain pop with ice.

I go to the drive through for a Large caffeine-free Diet Coke about 4-5 days per week - I too love fountain sodas with ice. For whatever reason, it is so much better than canned soda.

I don't eat there often but my Ds likes thier "Cheeeeeeese" (cheeseburger! He is non verbal but he knows and makes sure the rest of us know when we pass a McDs!). Anyway, the app was pretty cool & I haven't had anything messed up n the few times I have used it, which is saying a lot because just about evenrytime we do drive-thru we end up having to go in to get something fixed.

Speaking of apps.
If you had the Burger King app & you click on it while near a McDs ( stop light out front worked for me ) you used to get a coupon for a free sandwich ( pre pandemic )
So check out what your apps do! Some are semi sneaky & have unadvertised perks.
Also on the subject of FF apps Dunkin moved all of my freebies to July - I didn’t even ask - how nice is that

Though I've never had a BK milkshake; nor have I had a Chik-Fil-A milkshake my sil and my ds love the cookies and cream shake at Chick-fil-A as well as Jack in the Box. I'm guessing that in this climate it's difficult to get proper supplies from distributors and warehouses, esepcially w/so many people laid off. Many people are staying home and not even doing drive-thru. If those restaurants weren't popular before this started then it makes sense that they're even less populated now. I, too am very worried about the economic destruction that is happening all around us.
Sonic has great milkshakes, too. I remember having a banana cream pie shake years ago. Oh my!

When we went to the ronald mcdonald house the guide that showed us around even joked about it Shortages will get worse though, my butcher has a dozen notepads of orders and they are already 6 weeks ahead on their regular orders. Reduced staff, sick staff, huge demand, etc and they process their own meat. We are also going to see shortages of other products. I'm waiting on perfume that will be late summer. The product is made here but our bottles are made in italy.
