I have a dear friend who found out on Wed. afternoon that less than 48 hours later she'd be having surgery for ovarian cancer. She had it yesterday morning and apparently it went well. She's had breast cancer twice... 20 years ago with recurrence last year. Her adult daughter with Downs had b.cancer two years ago. Her husband has had cancer two or three times. I literally screamed FUCK! five times when I read her email on Wed.
Our church community has done a fab job of supporting family with daily dinner Meal Trains for the coming 3+ weeks and has collected over $800 to help with additional expenses. Today I want to order some things for her, her husband and their daughter - fun things. Her DH answered my ? as to if she would enjoy a puzzle with, "Great idea!" and I've just asked him what he and their daughter might enjoy finding in a delivery.
I know puzzles were VERY hard to find earlier in the pandemic. Wondering if anyone has had luck getting speedy delivery of puzzles recently and if so, where you ordered them.
Thanks very much!

I’m so sorry about your friend and her family. That’s awful that they’ve all had cancer multiple times and it makes me wonder whether there are environmental issues. I just searched Amazon and there are a few 500 piece puzzles, including Dowdle, that will arrive this week via Prime.

Thank you both! I will check out your suggestions in a sec.
I'm just on the Springbok website. they have some nice options. I'm starting to think which of the elderly people in my life who live here locally might also enjoy puzzles. maybe I'll have a larger order sent here and then I can drop goodie bags on their porches with some store bought cookies too....

Ebay is a great option. There are TONS of puzzles on there with the buy it now option and most sellers ship pretty fast. We've bought several on eBay and are happy with the result.

I have some that I would pass on. The only problem is that they may be missing a piece.

Are you anywhere close to a Half Price Books store? I went to my local one yesterday and they had tons of puzzles...and the prices ranged from just $6.99 to $11.99 (new/sealed boxes) and a large variety of styles and sizes. Another quick option might be your local NextDoor site. There are probably neighbors on there who would sell or give away puzzles if you asked. There have been posts on my neighborhood NextDoor like that recently....some are swapping or giving them away after they have finished them.

I ordered 3 puzzles from THE NEW YORK PUZZLE CO on April 2. They shipped on the 6th, and arrived here on the west coast on the 10th. All things considered, and especially since it was a month ago when things were a little bit more nutty, I was impressed. Sending well wishes to your friend and her family.....

Try FB marketplace too. I saw a local to me listing that had 8 500-1000 pieces puzzles for $25.
We have at least 4 puzzles we haven't put together yet. There's one I have no interest in doing (freebie from MIL) if you want it.

I ordered some nature scene 1000 piece puzzles from the Wild Center in upstate NY and was surprised I received in 3 days. (Great place to visit too when they reopen) the-wild-supply-co.myshopify.com/

This is my favorite local game + puzzle store. They're doing a massive restock of all puzzles on Monday, no later than 5:15 p.m. — although they do still have many options in stock if you don't want to wait. They also have tons of games and toys. Shipping is via UPS (1-3 days). If you happen to be in Illinois, shipping is free. cat-n-mouse.com/ETA: They also have free gift wrapping!

I don't know if you're comfortable driving to a Barnes and Noble, but they have beautiful puzzles you can order online and pick up in person at a store near you. (At least in CA, they re-opened as of yesterday for pick-ups.)
I found the hard-to-find Galison Michael Storrings puzzle I wanted last night on their site, saw I could pick it up at a store in my city, ordered it, and received a text this morning that I can go pick it up!

Off to check B&N online, thanks.

You're all so wonderful! In these circumstances I'd like to get my friend J some brand new puzzles and choose ones I think she would like. Your offers to share what you have or ideas of where to find some used ones, like Nextdoor, are appreciated and would be good in other situations. Thank you! houstonsandy - I have never heard of that store. We're on the central coast of California. MichyM - that sounds like great service. I'll check them out. Thanks! @stitch - I'd never heard of FB marketplace. Thanks! mama2three - awesome turnaround time! Are they local to you? pancakes - thanks - will check it out silverlining - sadly we lost our Barnes & Noble in Santa Barbara many years ago...

Now, the $64,000 question. Do I want to go ahead and check out now, or wait until the restock in a couple of days. Decisions, decisions.

Off to check B&N online, thanks. I've fallen in love with the Michael Storrings designs! I went straight to their site and they are not accepting new orders. I'm sorry yours was cancelled. I've been in runaround mode emailing back and forth with someone representing BlingPainting, lovely looking paint by number kits. They are stuck in China. I was told that they are not able to ship now due to Canada not accepting them during this pandemic time. Asking for full refund. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

They have some with larger pieces, some with a mix of large and small for families, and they have Alzheimer/dementia specific puzzles thanks! i have placed an order with them and am still down the rabbit hole of looking for other puzzles. Saw some decent ones on Hallmark.com too. Having a friend pick a couple out right now that I will send for her and her 13 yo son to work on together.
