Hi All...its been a couple of years since I have posted...but I do recognize some of your avatars! Mother's day was quiet here, with a couple of facetime and phone calls from kids and grandbabies. I got my 'growl' from 3 year old Jax...that is just how he greets us during facetime. siiiigh. This is my first mother's day without my mom, as she passed almost a year ago. DH's mom lives in an independent living facility, so he stopped by with a card for her and spoke to her thru her window. It has to be tough for her, because not only are we not allowed to visit...she is also limited to her studio apartment. DH is also getting us some curbside dinner, that is a chore, as we live out in the boonies...so it is a 30 minute drive each way. Hello!! I totally get the ordering curbside. We live 30 miles from most of the good takeout. The local take out is a few bars. I still want to support our small town bars and restaurants though. I've been trying to get stuff that reheats well.

Happy Mother’s Day. Pretty much a normal Sunday, did some laundry, helped DH with the baseboards downstairs. We made a salad for supper. Not very exciting and the weather is crappy, rain with the odd snowflake thrown in.

This is my first Mother’s Day away from my kids and I’m sad. I’m tired of being away from everyone.
Does anyone take hormones? Have we discussed this? I started taking estradiol after my ovaries were removed (not cancer) because I developed severe arthritis. It helped a lot, and I’ve been on them 7 years. My new doctor is trying to wean me off them and the arthritis is coming back. I don’t have a uterus (hysterectomy) so the side effects of estrogen are minimal except for potential clotting issues. Just wondering if anyone has been on them for an extended period of time. This arthritis is killing me right now.

I don't take any hormones. I will be officially in Menopause come june/july. The main thing for me are the dang hot flashes, which I mainly have at night. Good topic for next wk!!

Dog Mom here. We gave them baths this morning, and then we were couch potatoes. Got sucked into an Amazon show called Upload. Ten 1/2 hour episodes and we watched ALL of them. Now I am watching Ozark (season 2).

My mom lives with me. We did takeout with my youngest daughter and granddaughter. Facetimed oldest daughter and other 2 granddaughters. Louis- the dog- enjoyed his roast beef haha. It was fun.

I had a quiet day yesterday. I had planned to drive the 1.5 hours to Adelaide to have the weekend with my Mum but of course that was cancelled. My sister Facetimed me when she was visiting Mum and we had a lovely chat. I was still in my dressing gown LOL as I didn't expect the call. Mum loved it and it was lovely to talk to her. My daughter lives a few minutes away and we are now allowed to have 2 people visit our home so her partner cooked a roast chicken on the bbq and she made roast vegies and homemade meringue and lime curd for dessert. It was a lovely end to the day.

No real plans for Mother’s Day. I am having a friend over in a bit to sit out on my terrace and drink some wine and visit IN PERSON on this picture perfect 85 degree day. We will social distance, it should be easy with just the two of us. I’ve got Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, and papers towels out there already in preparation. She’s bringing her own snacks and wine glass so we don’t need to worry too much about sharing potential germs. First time I’ve had anyone in my place since February! My mother died 9 years ago, my sister 10 years ago, so MD is very quiet and somewhat melancholy for me. My son and his partner sent a gorgeous floral arrangement (it’s on my IG story for those who follow me) which always perks me up. They found the best florist not too far from me a couple of years ago, I love her work. Wishing they were here, but that never happens on MD since they live across the country anyhow. I hope you all have/are having a glorious day! I hope you enjoy your friends visit 😊 Thank you. It was amazing. We sat and talked for 5 hours. It should hold me over for a while...

I guess I get to join this group now, turned 50 last week. It was kind of a bummer birthday. I'm ok with the number, I've come to terms with it. But we had so much planned for this year to celebrate - and its all gone down the crapper. So I had a bit of a pity party for myself (biggest bummer is the northern european cruise we were supposed to be leaving on tomorrow that of course has been cancelled) but now I've picked myself up & dealing with what is.
Anyway, my family did their best to make my birthday and mothers day as wonderful as possible. We had chinese takeout for birthday dinner, dd20 went to the store before I woke up & bought me flowers & a cake and got a Starbucks for my morning drink. Today I got a lovely card & ebook gift card, my mom made me a birthday cake (my fave carrot with cream cheese icing), and dd made dinner for us. DS isn't talented in the kitchen but he did a great job with clean up for all meals LOL It was lovely.
My best gift of all was getting to spend it with both my kids. My dd was supposed to be in Australia visiting her boyfriend for the summer, but now I get bonus time with her at home. I'm trying to enjoy all the extra time with both of them before they move out & get busy with their own lives.
Happy mothers day to everyone!

Happy post Mother’s Day ladies. We had a quiet day. We had my granddaughter for the weekend. She is one and I watch her when her mom and dad work (both icu nurses in covid units). My mother in law lives at a senior apartment (with every type of care on the campus) and we were going to go see her with the baby outside far away from her but she checked and they wouldn’t allow it. It is always a great day when we have our baby here so it was a good Mother’s Day for me.

What is upload about? I think I've seen it on there, but not enough to look further. It’s kind of a comedy/drama based in the year 2033. Instead of dying and going to heaven, people can buy an afterlife experience called Upload. It is an app experience which you can customize by purchasing add-on features, etc. But, there is a story about one particular person who’s is uploaded. Just something light and different.

My kids made me worms in dirt for dessert, in an homage to childhood, and they assembled my compost bin while DH and I dropped off his mom's gift & card. Other than that, I had a couple of bloody marys and sat in the sun. We went for a walk and DH picked up BBQ for dinner.
