I was just looking at a link about bad baby names. What is the worse you have heard?
I have a friend who works in the courthouse and has heard the following:
Shotavodka (yes, spelled exactly this way) and La-a (girl was very upset that no one knew her name was pronounced La-dash-a)

I know a person named "Candy Bar". My mother (many years ago) knew someone named "Seymour Pecker"

That's hilariously bad I used to look after a little girl called Unique but it was pronounced U-kneekay or kneekay for short. Also Champagne and Chardonnay.

I once met a Jack Frost who has a Brother Dee Frost. I am not making this up. Jack had a good sense of humor about the whole thing.

A boy that went to school with my children is Race Carr. My husband worked for a man with twin girls named Happy and Jolly.
ETA: My husband has a relative from way back when named Commodore Perry - Commodore being his first name and Perry his middle name. (Commodore Matthew Perry, for those that don't know, was commodore of the US Navy during the War of 1812)

Some of these are pretty bad compared to the worst I've ever known.
Working in daycare you come across lots of unusual or different names and this one isn't necessarily weird but there is a little boy named Atlas, to me that is odd.

I saw a name the other day that while not unusual, does have an unusual spelling. It's Sheriee. I don't understand all the vowels at the end or how it would be pronounced. I've seen Sheree with the accent on the 2nd syllable or Sheri, accent on the 1st. This spelling has me stumped.

I had a friend who named her DD Christmas Eve. I think the DD went by Christy a lot of the time growing up.

I once knew an Oceanus and Mediterranea! And an Azure-Lea. There's an Azure-Ray on my daughter's soccer team. I finally met her mom and her mom was introducing Azure-Ray's little brother. I braced myself but she said, "This is Rob." Made me giggle.

I see lots of interesting names at work- but for whatever reason, "Precious" stands out to me. Not the most unusual by far, but it's always the one I remember first. Most of the time I simply ask them to spell their name, just so I'm typing it correctly. But I know I've had conversations with people on the origins of their name, which makes me think there were some weird ones...

I forgot this until I read your post. I was at a baby shower this summer and there was a baby there named Atlas. ETA: I keep remembering more. We had a girl in the daycare I worked at named Chakra. Dh has a niece named Patience (named after a Guns and Roses song).

I like the name Atlas. It was on our list of potential boy names. I think it will be hard for him when he is in school, but will be a name he will grow into.
I was told that the Dad used to travel a lot, and his name is tied into that.

But we also live in an area where there is a lot of diversity, so while their names are uncommon, they aren't alone in a school of traditional names or anything.

I was told that the Dad used to travel a lot, and his name is tied into that. I think this name is actually gaining in popularity and will be much more common in a few years. I know one boy named Atlas as well and didn't think of is as an odd name. I think of Atlas as an older name that is coming back in style, like Oliver and Rhett.

The La-a thing is an urban legend. You can find an entry on snopes.com.
It's hard for me to take seriously anyone who repeats it.
