I rarely post on my Facebook or look at my feed. Mostly I’m there for my groups. So I don’t see all these annoyances, usually.
BUT I have to admit to being grateful there was no Facebook back when my MIL was still alive. I loved her, but damn, she would fall for any conspiracy theory that came along. I remember her giving me a many-times-photocopied (this was the ’90s) version of that thing about how Procter & Gamble is secretly in league with Satan. And she totally believed it.
I can’t even imagine her with access to today’s internet. {shudder}

I haven't seen that yet. Haha, many things confuse me on facebook. There is something I have been seeing. People "nominate" someone to post picture a day, no explanation, etc. I would love to hear the story behind the pictures! I want an explanation. The other thing I don't get is when people post "following" instead of making a comment about the post. Can't you check off something to get notifications? I still love facebook, these are just little vents.

Ugh, yes, I also dislike of all the ones already mentioned. And the quizzes that say "Only 2% of people can score over 5/10" and every one of my friends who do those stupid quizzes get every question correct. The latest one that several of my friends/family are posting is a picture of hundreds of the same thing - it might be a number or a lemon or a water drop - with the caption "Only a genius can find different water drop" or "95 people can't find the difference between thee 2 pictures" or "No-one can spot the odd one out can you? Share if you see it!" My sister did the tattoo one. It’s arrogance and an I am better than you pat on the back. Yes that's exactly what it is!

but I try to keep my Facebook a controversy-free space. yah... me too.... my brother's cousin recently friended me (notice how i worded that???). i accepted friend request like two weeks ago and already regretting it. since our prime minister recently banned automatic weapons, all is see his his *shit* about how messed up and wrong that is. not HIS thoughts of course, just images and memes he reposted about how cars don't kill people, drunk drivers do, blah, blah, blah, why punish the poor guns. latest - a pic of justin trudeau with a bunch of CSIS agents around him walking in public... with graphics pointing to their pockets/waistbands/hidden shoulder holsters saying "gun here, gun here, gun here". ooohhh the hypocrisy!!! what the ever loving fuck?!?!? first, they don't have THOSE types of weapons, secondly they are trained law enforcement, thirdly he is a WORLD LEADER that someone may actually be stupid enough to want to assassinate - not YOUR dumb ass living in rural ontario walking into walmart in the closest town?!?!? this is the guy who came to visit ME in the hospital as a skinny, freckle faced little girl who had been shot with a rifle my grandparents dumb fuck neighbhours had loaded on the wall. the whole time he was there, he looked like he was going to burst into tears. emotional blackmail posts i can scroll on by... by that shit totally ticked me off. refused to be baited though....

I hate those types of posts. Unfortunately, there are a 1 or 2 family members/friends that post this sort of thing and if you don't like it, they get upset.

I hate the ones that post a picture of the US flag, or a US service member, and then state “who will repost this” or “or I bet no one will repost this”. Please. I don’t need to repost those kinds of things to prove my patriotism or whatever. Nothing like a healthy dose of Facebook emotional blackmail. Yeah that. They’re my very least favourite posts.

So stupid. My most recently annoying one was "how long was your first labor", etc. I like to post on that one just to annoy people with my short labors. lol First labor was 35 minutes. 2 and 3 were about 3 hours each.

My mil loves all the fun/funny things but is still in the group that floods your inbox with them. She does try to make it relevant but I don't want that in my inbox. I know she does it because she is think of us but funny she rarely emails her son/DH.But I'm the go to communicator in our family.
DH even jokes that he is 4th in line on their hypothetical list of favorites, behind the kids (their only grandkids) and me who gives them lots of access to said grandkids. He got lots of brownie points for taking the kids for a social distancing visit on Mother's Day (leaving me with a quiet and peaceful house)! We love her, but everyone has their quirks!

What’s with all the new cartoon avatars now?
I’ll just nod along with everything you’ve all said. It’s like junior high sometimes with all the attention grabbing and lack of critical thinking skills.
I’m on there to see my niece’s new baby and catch up with friends. I’m getting tired of having to slog through all the BS to find something I’m actually interested in.
I’ve been nominated to post my favorite books, albums and travel photos and have said no to all of them. Please 😜

What’s with all the new cartoon avatars now? That shit annoys me... but a lot of peas/former peas that I am friends with on FB are doing it, so... Eh, Facebook is different things for different people. And I use it very differently now than I did when I started on it eleven or so years ago. I figure to each his own. I'm a proficient scroller. I can skim right by stuff that's not of interest to me for whatever reason. And sometimes I just flat out enjoy rolling my eyes at what others' choose to post.

They’re pretty much all from foreign bots probing for the gullible that can then be targeted for more specific disinformation ads/posts.
It’s sad and scary at the same time.

I clicked on a link from this board about Mormons several days ago. Yesterday I got a suggestion for a Mormon group on FB. Yeah, no thanks.

I may have missed this, but what about "I was tagged for 10 days of.... and I am tagging YOU!" I feel bad, but I just don't do that because there is no way I am dragging 10 of my friends into this.
I also feel bad because a friend sent me an email, chain mail for recipes. Sorry, I just don't do that either.

The things you mentioned are super annoying. There is a lot of idiocy on Facebook. I don't understand people who fall for all of those scams. I hate the "post 10 things/photos without explanation" because I WANT to know the explanation. Why is this one of your top 10 albums? What is the significance of this landscape? But I love Facebook. I just roll my eyes and scroll past those. Sometimes I put the person on a 30 day mute. But I love most of my friends posts. I love looking at kids and pets. I love memes. I love pop culture references. I love my Facebook groups, even though some of them are a total disaster -I have those ones for the entertainment value. I love following businesses I frequent- right now they are the best way to get information about when/if the business is open and what their rules are. And (whispers) I love the targeted ads. I know, I know. But too many times I see one and think "gosh darn it, I DO need that. I have about 12 art teacher shirts because they know me too darn well.

I'm about ready to quit Facebook because of this crap. I literally unfriended everyone but my dog so I don’t have to deal with any of this garbage but I can still take part in all the fb groups that I do enjoy and keep all my pictures and memories intact that I posted there. It’s been a total win-win for me. HAHAHA. This is great. I have blocked an awful lot of people and I am down to the "normalish" ones now. Still, I get "I was nominated to post pictures for FREAKING ETERNITY just to annoy you" every day. One picture is fine. I hate days worth of them. I also hate the people who post daily prayers. Who the fuck cares? If you want to pray, pray privately. (Sorry, I get crazed that people think their 1000 friends all want to see this crap) I just want fun stuff on my FB page

The one I laugh at currently is “in honor of high school students who can’t have their graduation ceremony post your senior pic.”
As if it’s going to make some kid who has missed his high school graduation feel better because I posted my senior pic.
Just a chance for people my age to say “Look how good I looked 40 years’ ago!”

*repost if you love your son/daughter*
Not today bitch. They have been home since March. Today they are on my last nerve so there will be no reposting.
