Our weather is really not being almost summery and it makes me a little sad. I don't want it to be too hot, but I would like the sun to shine and the temperature to rise out of the teens celcius. Not much planned today, or for the rest of the long weekend we have, especially if the yucky weather keeps up.
Dinner tonight is roast chicken with vegetables and gravy. Yum!

Molly is beautiful leannec! I love coconut shrimp! And I found a recipe to make red lobsters Pina colada sauce at home. Yum! I'm moving slow today. Tonight's dinner will be Mongolian beef try #3.

DH made about 40 beef and veggie kabobs last night. There were 3 of us for dinner so needless to say we are having leftovers. They were delicious so I'm good with that.
We are still limited to groups of 5 here. Last night we let DS(17) have 3 friends over. DS had cleaned the garage and moved his tv and PS4 in there and they stayed in there except to use our washroom right off the garage. I woke up this morning to 2 messages from the other parents. I was dreading reading them. I was thinking they may have been pissed. They were actually thanking me for allowing the kids over and keeping the provincial rules in place at the same time. Whew!!

Beautiful picture of your DD, leannec! Happy birthday to her! Last night I completed a 5-day Fitbit Work Week Hustle Challenge. It was me and 4 girls who are my son's age (34). Guess who won? Dinner will be POT roast with potatoes, carrots and onions. Hope springs eternal, huh leannec!

We'll grill out this evening. Hamburgers and veggie burgers with a side TBD. I'm planning on making an apple crisp this afternoon.
I bought a new vacuum (Dyson) this morning. Expensive, but everyone tells me it's worth it. My 15 year old Bissel from Target is on its last legs.
Wishing everyone a calm weekend.

Sorry I've been MIA; been busy with legal stuff - lawyer visits and gathering and trying to find a bunch of documents- to update our wills/trust and POA. I think we're in a pretty good place right now to get everything finalized in a couple of weeks or so. Ds and ddil have initiated their own as well so it's been a joint effort.
Now then - dinner. Ddil is making one of those pizza croissant wreath thingies. Looking forward to something different!

leannec happy birthday to Molly! Making grilled salmon with peppers potatoes and broccoli from my garden! It’s been an eventful day here. It’s day 3 of protests here. They were 4 blocks from my house. They moved back downtown which is 2 miles away. I was going to just north of downtown to help a friend board up her business but I got 6 blocks away and had to turn back. The kids from osu were flocking down there. They were carrying baseball bats and signs. There’s only 1 reason for baseball bats. Not a good one. The National Guard has been activated and now there’s a curfew. This afternoon our neighborhood had a graduation parade So the rest of us cheered and banged pots for them.

It's been a nice, quiet day here with perfect weather. DD is off on a hike with a friend she hasn't seen for months and DH & DS are off to donate blood while I sit and enjoy the backyard.
Dinner will be grilled tuna and shrimp with a couple salads TBD after I poke through the fridge. Maybe Greek salad or a slaw and the Ottolenghi green beans I made last weekend.

There is a lot of good frozen coconut shrimp out there- just stick with a brand you trust to start. The dippomg sauce is also important! Lol, a lot of the frozen ones come with it. Dinner tonight is Buffalo Chicken Ziti, a new recipe.

You won't be able to get it because I'm in Canada ... it's from M&M Food Shops ... a place that sells frozen stuff that is so good I am having the cabbage rolls from M&M Food shops & finished the spring rolls last night. I also love their coconut shrimp. This store originated in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and yes, the cabbage rolls are hand rolled. I love that they have smaller portions that you can take from the freezer and heat up quickly. The food is really good.

I had their chicken pot pie and loved that! The smaller potions of everything are perfect. Like the cabbage rolls. They are excellent! We like their ribs, stuffed chicken breasts, Steak Bavette (that was more me than dad) and more. I love that store!

Steak was on sale so mon père wanted bacon wrapped filet. I am so looking forward to it. I got more vegetables so I will roast a pan of them and would like some pasta maybe. I don’t do potatoes. Maybe I have some pasta in the pantry.
I wasn’t at all hungry when I grocery shopped and I always have to be hungry to grocery shop. There’s stuff that my dad likes and I like to get him that stuff like Tim Tams or whatever but I just got exactly what was on the list and nothing else. Now we have nothing really fun to eat for the next day or two because I got enough food for today and tomorrow darn.

You do have Wegman’s and Trader Joes. They are a league above M&M.

bc2ca did you post the recipe for those green beans? I looked up Yotam Ottolenghi when sueg mentioned getting his cookbooks for her birthday and decided to try his French Beans and Mangetout with Hazelnuts and Orange. The only thing I didn't have on hand was hazelnut oil and I substituted orange juice, mixing the olive oil, juice, garlic, salt & pepper as a dressing before tossed it with the beans, snow peas (mangetout) and hazelnuts. It is delicious!
