A man currently in prison in Germany is being investigated in connection with the disappearance of Maddie McCann 13 years ago. Apparently he was in the area at the time of her disappearance, living in a camper van. He also had a Jaguar which he transferred into someone else's name the day after Maddie went missing. He is a known paedophile and is imprisoned on sex changes. I hope her parents can at last find out what happened to their little girl. BBC

I saw that. I certainly hope they can find out what happened to her.

What a sad case. I remember it well. I really hope this is it and the parents can finally find out what happened to their little girl. I can't imagine the guilt they've been feeling over the years since they left their little girl alone to go to a nearby restaurant, although they checked on her every 30 minutes. I've felt for their pain over the years wanting them to get an answer. It's the not knowing that's the worst pain I imagine.

Wow, I do hope they finally get an answer. This case still haunts me, especially because she resembles my dd.

I hope they solve this case. I can’t imagine how her parents have gotten through the past 13 years not knowing what happened to their daughter. Heartbreaking.

I read this earlier and it’s been on my mind all evening. I so hope that this isn’t just another dead end. It’s certainly the most promising lead there has been for many years.

This does seem like a very credible step forward. I really hope that this will give them some answers and whatever the outcome is, her parents can find peace and a level of closure, finally. I can't imagine the pain they have been through for the last 13 years of not knowing.

Two things, her eye is so distinctive that if she were still alive I believe someone would have noticed. I hope she is but don't really think so.
I have said from the beginning that whoever took her had been watching and knew their routine of leaving the children and going to dinner. I always suspected it was someone up on the hill that looked down onto their room. I was thinking of someone who lived in one of the dwellings on the hill but maybe that was where this guy parked and basically lived in his van.

Even if it is a credible lead, being reliant on a plea for anyone with information who has had a "change in loyalties" leaves me feeling less optimistic. I hope I'm wrong.

It may not just be relying on that. I read that he worked part time jobs locally, was in the area for quite some times, the van he used was unusual, he received a few phone calls they have details of so there may be people who knew of him or remember him.

To have answers even after all this time would bring this family a measure of peace that's unimaginable. I am hopeful for them.

I remember this story well too. So sad.
A bit off topic: I just read a book called "The Couple Next Door" about a child that was taken from her crib while the parents visited next door (and checked on her every 30 minutes).

They opened a murder investigation, so it’s no longer a missing persons case. I realize that’s not a surprise, but it’s sad.

I so hope the parents get resolution soon. I’ve never felt they were responsible, other than their idiocy of leaving the children alone. I Don’t know how anyone survives year after year, not knowing what’s happened to a loved one 😪
