DH and I are dreaming of where to travel when it is safe to do so and we would love to visit Key West. His company owns a luxury property does there, so we are good on accommodations, but are just trying to decide on activities.
If you have visited before, what are you must do/see activities? Favorite restaurants/bars? Excursions? Things to avoid?
TIA!

We drove there from Orlando last year...it’s an amazing and unusual road trip along the Keys and I highly recommend driving it. We only stayed a couple of days and we didn’t have any set plans except for lunch...I had to have a Cuban sandwich so we went to Ana’s Cuban Café and it was very good. And we had a Cuban coffee at Cuban Coffee Queen. We spent the rest of our time bar hopping as there were many venues with great live music. We also had a quick stroll through the Key West Sculpture Garden and I found it very interesting and wish I spent a little more time there.

We stayed up in the northern third a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. There's a state park you can go take snorkel tours and see the reefs not very expensive. That was a highpoint. We ended up being super glad we didn't go to the tip. The day after we left, it was hit by the hurricane! One road out, we would have been stuck.

Key West is one of my favorite vacations! I take a girls trip with a friend every May. Pepe’s Cafe is a favorite of mine. Blue Heaven is great but usually has a long wait. We sort of have a schedule we follow in the evenings. We start at Schooner Wharf for conch fritters. It’s an outside bar with live music right on the docks. Then we will have dinner. We like to watch the sunset from Sunset Pier. Then we spend the rest of the evening walking along Duval St hopping into different bars and listening to music. We always end up at Sloppy Joe’s. We have gone to the Dry Tortugas three times, camped out there once. It is wonderful. It is a full day trip. Fort Zachary has a nice beach. Watching the sunset from Mallory Square is probably a must for a first visit. For such a small island, I have never run out of things to do or see.

My favorite, by far, was the tour of Hemingway's house. We also did the hop on/hop off bus tour, which is a great way to see a lot of the island.

There have been a few Key West threads here, so be sure to do a search!

I'm hoping to get there as part of a cruise next April. KW has been on my bucket list for years, and was our first choice of honeymoon destination. Of course we were flat broke when we got married, so I have no idea how we thought we were going to go. The cruise is our honeymoon trip, 21 years into the marriage.

I would also rent bikes. We used Eaton bikes. They delivered to our hotel and everything. We rented for a few days. It was fun!

We loved the Hemingway house tour.
My favorite restaurant was called Seven Fishes. Everything we ate there was fabulous. Their shrimp and mango salsa is to die for.
Really, every meal we ate in Key West was delicious. Each restaurant had its own specialties. We ate lots of fabulous key lime pie in many variations and brought home lime cookies that were truly wonderful.
We took a jet ski tour around the island and loved it.
We checked out all the art galleries and bought a watercolor we love - filled with light and color.
We stayed at the Hyatt on the harbor. We ate breakfast outside on the patio overlooking the harbor. Every night after dinner we went to our balcony to watch the sun set (gorgeous sunsets every night!!) and listen to live music from the property next door. Then we’d swim under the stars.
And now I want to go back.
