I've just gotten new teak patio furniture. Does anyone know of a wood sealer I can use that will prevent it from graying and keep the natural color? I've been googling and keep coming up with conflicting information so I thought maybe someone here would have experience with this. Thanks

We have teak patio furniture. You are going to have to put the oil on every year, so beware that it is an ongoing process! Star Brite is the brand DH uses. Since it is new, the oil should be all you need this year. Going forward, you might need to use the cleaners and brightener before you apply the oil. How often is going to depend on your weather conditions and where the furniture is. Mine is not under covered areas and gets full sun most of the day so it is a yearly ritual.

Mine sits on my back porch and gets full sunlight in the mornings until early afternoon, but it is covered. I don't mind treating it yearly if it keeps the natural color - I just don't want it to turn gray. I'm going to look up the Star Brite and see where I can get it - thanks so much!

You might try a marine supply store. Teak is a popular wood on boats. My husband put a teak floor on a boat we had and he got all supplies at the marine store.

Try calling a patio furniture place for advice.

Tung oil. I bought my mom a teak potting bench for her covered porch years ago. Initially, she oiled it with Tung oil and repeats the process every few years when it starts getting dull looking. It's still the same lovely redish shade as the day I bought it. You can find Tung Oil at any hardware store.

I haven't found anything that keeps my teak from graying. We have a guy pick it up every couple of years to rehab it.
