Just so everyone knows, it's perfectly acceptable to hang a portrait of yourself in your home. You don't HAVE to have children or a husband in it. You know you're a human being in the world too, that people love and want to see a beautiful photo of. Stop using your kids as an excuse not to do it. #soapbox
Thank you for saying this, I needed to hear it.
I'm single, no kids and never been married. I live by myself. I have photos up of my family and friends but also a couple that are just me and my horse. The photos are very special to me but I always feel weird having photos of myself up in my own house. It seems like other people would think it's weird. Not sure why I care what someone might think but it just feels like something other people with "real" families wouldn't have up.
There was an episode of Sex and the City where Samantha did a nude photo shoot and ultimately hung it in her apartment. She felt weird about it but then the food delivery guy saw it and commented how hot it was (it something to that effect). I love that episode. I have considered doing a boudoir shoot, for DH but really more for myself. Maybe later this year, as I am approaching Maybe later this year, as I am approaching 50.

I was at an exotic arts party a few years ago and there was a photographer that had set up a private space to do boudoir photos and had a rack of corsets you could put on. My girlfriend's and I sort of dared each other and went in. We ended up doing individuals and some with the three of us. I was very pleasantly surprised at how they turned out and it makes me want to go do a real shoot for just me.
The biggest problem was that I was really too small for any of the corsets so it looks a little bad up top as I have no boobs hardly and all the corsets had cups for bigger busts than me. They looked awesome on my friends though. Her set up was a chair, a great beautiful couch and a motorcycle. She said her studio at home had much more to offer but this was the best she could do off site. And since she was off site, she couldn't do some of the more exotic poses.
At risk of complete embarrassment, here's my favorite from that shoot. I won't leave this up long but want to show that you can do these types of pictures without it being...fill in with whatever word you were thinking these type pictures.

I did my own at home a few years ago. I wore a steel boned corset, and a favourite lace bra. I set up my camera, lights, and used a remote timer. They are my favourite photos ever!! I am so glad I have them.
I wanted to do another shoot but this time with a photographer, some time this year. Because if covid I probably won’t end up doing it but I will again in the future.
I don’t think feeling beautiful and confident has an age limit!

I am so not photogenic. I have an old drivers license photo and 2 passport photos that I think I look quite pretty in. That's a pretty sad collection. I cannot convince myself that a photographer could possibly get pretty pictures of me. I have taken family photos and close friend photos before and feel I have a pretty good eye. I was taking photos for a web page and they needed one of a tall, rather gangly fellow. My DH was surprised at the picture I was able to get. I found the best angle to soften him up, but still totally look like him. I gave a copy to the family for fun, they are friends of ours. With all that said, the right photographer can and will show you at your best. Everyone has the potential for great photos, it is finding the right photographer. You also need to look at yourself for the beautiful person you are. Do not look at all the ways you feel the picture is wrong. There is beauty there.

Solid nope for me.
Even when I was young and hot, I would have never felt comfortable. Not only because I just do not see myself that way and do not really need to see myself that way, but because I am not photogenic. (And many professional photographers have proven that, over and over. I am sure there are photographers who can make me look good in a pic, but I have met very few of them.)
There is no way I would allow myself to be vulnerable with boudoir photography when I know how unlikely it is that I would like the result. Especially at my age and weight. Cannot see thrilling of putting myself in an embarrassing situation only to be humiliated by the result.

I have a great deal of trouble seeing beauty in myself. I have 3 sisters and my dad had no problem telling me that it was a good thing I was smart because I certainly wasn't pretty like my sisters. I carry that stupid comment still. I've tried and tried to dump it, but it still jumps me occasionally. Thank you!

I’m definitely thinking about this. I think it would be fun, and my husband’s birthday and our anniversary are both in November. They’d be something different to send him while he’s so far away. He’d flip out 😁.
I’m going to check out what there is to offer in our area.

I have a couple photos of myself (head shots) hanging in my house. I lived in an international dorm and I was the only tall blonde the Asian art students in my dorm knew. I modeled a lot for them. The photos of myself are from that time. Sometimes it seems weird to have photos of myself out but I like being reminded that I was young and pretty.

Okay, I was reading your comment that if there isn't a photo of only yourself in your home, it's just wrong. Truly something I have never thought about. I currently have zero photos on display.

I did it last fall and posted about it here. I did it to get a boost to my self esteem, but it didn't work out to well! I wasn't really happy with the photos. I didn't like the way my hair looked and I thought I looked bigger than I thought I was! I know they say the camera adds 10 pounds, but I think she may have used the 20 pound filter!
I will try it again sometime though. I really want to do a pin up style shoot because I love swing dancing and retro style. I had one scheduled for May, but of course it was canceled due to the quarantine.

Ugh. This thread reminded me there are some ( amazing ) topless shots of me from way back that I hid somewhere when I moved in here with my sons family! Yikes! I have to find them and figure out what to do with them before I lose my memory completely or die. Or maybe not worry about my kids finding them???
Do it, btw. It’s a real confidence builder.
