Governor Cooper is now requiring us to wear masks indoors or out when we can't be 6 feet apart. Dh and I have been doing this for months now so it doesn't change our behavior but I hope it will change the behavior of others. We can still go for walks without masks because we can keep our distance from others. Our walking track is busier than usual but not that much yet.
The state is also not entering phase 3 which would have opened bars, gyms and museums. Personally, I don't see why museums can't open with crowd control. I am never that close to anyone in a museum and I'm certainly not touching anything though I suppose some museums like Discovery Place are interactive. Maybe we will move to phase 3 in 3 weeks if things improve.
Our cases have continued to climb. They may be plateauing again but it is hard to tell. Hospitalizations have increased from about 500 per day when we started opening to 900 per day now.
Glad we have a governor who looks at the data to make decisions. Not looking forward to the backlash the mask mandate will create but I hope it will settle down and people will get used to it. It's just not that big a deal to wear a mask particularly indoors.

Too many people out there that are selfish, stubborn, and/or ignorant.

I know a lot of people will be upset over this, but I am not one. I like Cooper, but I wonder if this will effect his bid for re election.

Good luck masks are mandatory here but many are very vocal that they won’t wear them that it’s goes against their rights. They don’t believe they will be effected since it’s a hoax. Our sheriff has said he won’t ticket those that don’t follow the rules so several bars are filled well beyond capacity and not even close to following and covid rules. One has closed due to an outbreak and I’m betting the other one down the street has cases but just not reporting since they haven’t followed any rules for months. I don’t see people taking this seriously unless they know someone that gets really sick from it. So until our numbers go way up people are still going to be out snd about here. Our county has high numbers but our city isn’t bad but of course people don’t just stay in their city. I haven’t watched our governor in a few months and watched him today. It sounds like we are now prepped with excess beds and PPEs Our county is one of 11 being watched in California. It sounds like we are on pause but at this point there’s not a lot that hasn’t reopened. Bars, gyms and nail salons are open but play grounds aren’t. Museums, zoos and aquariums are reopened. We have had several restaurants, bakeries and today a huge winery announced they were closed as several employees have tested positive. The frustrating thing for those that have visited they can’t say what days the infected individuals were there. One restaurant that closed was one that seemed to really be doing everything in their power to follow the rules the other not. The bakeries weren’t exactly hot spots of activity. With these I think our city is going to start seeing much larger increases in numbers. Our hospital, icu snd deaths are climbing in our county now so I think it’s just a matter of time before it starts hitting home for people in our city. Their attitudes and nastiness towards those that are at risk is beyond disgusting and shocking to hear such from all these so called Christians. Their comments online are so hateful but oh they paid it forward at Starbucks so they are saved. I just can’t believe the hypocrisy.

the Governor of AZ finally allowed cities and counties to require masks if they so choose; the governor (Ducey-R) was pretty much just sticking his fingers in his ears and saying 'lalalala, I can't hear you' about COVID-19, till we made the national news as one of the newest hotspots. I still see people in stores without them, but not as many as before. Some stores and businesses are even being nice enough about it to hand masks out to their customers who don't have them, although I don't necessarily think that's their responsibility. The smallish city I live in had a 40% increase in positive cases last week, which is concerning. Hopefully the mask-wearing proclamation will help slow that down.

My DH manages a small grocery store...we are in a town just north of Charlotte. He is not looking forward to the battle that will happen with some customers over wearing the masks.
I work in a hospital and wear a mask for 7 to 8 hours, depending on the length of my shift. I have no sympathy for those who don't like wearing them (not including those with a physical or mental condition that makes it impossible to wear one). Suck it up, buttercup.
I'm glad the governor has made this order and extended phase 2.

I really think masks are the reason hospitalizations are down so dramatically here in Connecticut. I see almost 100% compliance when I’m out.

I really wish people would look at the real data not just outdated data to “prove” their point. It’s not to prevent every little virus particle but the larger droplets filled with virus from coughing, sneezing or even talking. Studies in places where people are using them show that it slows down the virus.

That is scary! They really think they know more than scientists and doctors. We are doomed. I don't understand people who are so unwilling to do something that will help protect people around them. How does this align with their faith? I just don't understand it. We should all be in this together for the greater good.

It was the Health Dept that shut down a San Diego restaurant/bar after social media coverage of them breaking all the rules. El Prez reopens againI'm really disappointed with the rise in CA numbers.

They become mandatory in WA on Friday. I’m glad. I see them on about 90% of the folks in my little suburb.

When you look at the studies that prove mask wearing works, it's staggering! I can't believe people don't take a few minutes to read how well they really do work.
Our Governor in Washington announced the same thing starting Friday. I'm sure it'll bring a shit storm of stupid people out of the woodwork.

Mandatory in Virginia for several weeks now; huge uproar but most people I see wear a mask so I guess they’re complaining under their masks 🤦🏽♀️

IL has done a wonderful job bringing it’s numbers down. We have had to wear masks for awhile. It’s really no big deal. Wear them in the stores. Take them off once you’re away from others outside.

Our governor in Nevada just announced mandated masks starting on Friday. This includes guests in casinos. It's in response to an increase in cases the past week or so since moving to a new phase. He likened it to, "No shoes, no shirt, no mask, no service."
He said the public won't be fined, but businesses who don't enforce it will be held responsible.
Major casinos are supporting the move. Some have even been offering incentives to guests who wear masks.
I was in an Apple Store on Monday. They checked everyone's temperature, required masks, and limited the number of people in the store at one time. It wasn't a big deal at all.
I just don't understand why some people are so opposed to at least trying.

This is my county. So proud that a small group of people make the county appear to be full of thoughtless imbeciles.

Masks have been mandatory here since the end of May and, apart from the first couple of days, compliance has been high. Overall, our numbers have stayed low - the few outbreaks here (and some are major outbreaks) have been in meatworks, which would appear to have been grossly negligent about worker health, and in a couple of larger communities, who've had parties that breach the rules.

I'm also in PB county, FL.
The order has medical and religious examptions.
I am curious what religious exemptions there could be.

Mask wearing has increased here in Yakima, WA, even though mandatory masks doesn't go into effect until Friday. The parking lot at Fred Meyer was only a little over half full. That said, when DH was in the checkout line, the guy behind him was unmasked and was practically up against DH's shoulder. He told the guy they are supposed to be 6 feet apart. The guy said "Oh, yeah" like he had just forgotten. But he did not move away.
I have heard about people being assaulted for wearing a mask and being ordered to remove their masks by irate people. If this happens to me, I plan to say, "I will gladly comply if you are sure, but I happen to be asymptomatic so I can spread the virus." I am not asymptomatic (that I know of), but hopefully it will give them pause.

Hi, Coastal NC here. I will wear it when I step inside a store but not in the parking lot and not out. The store ok, but anywhere else not a chance in hell. If people are concerned I'm spreading it, stay away...might be a good thing as people here think it's ok to enter personal space.

In So California A lot of people myself included take it off in the parking lot. I’m no where near other people so off it goes. Some do some don’t here well back about a month ago here before people lost their minds over masks. Here they were saying outside only if you can’t social distance our new mandate may be more strict but I have no plans to go out right now anyways.

We've been doing that in PA for over 2 months. I really like that our governor ordered that. Our numbers are much better than other states. Most people in our area are wearing masks.
