I have included a poll.
Inspired by a friend. His physical therapist asked what he was reading and he replied: Perry Mason She had no idea who Perry Mason might be.
For those who answered no:
Perry Mason is an American fictional character, a criminal defense lawyer who is the main character in works of detective fiction written by Erle Stanley Gardner. Perry Mason features in more than 80 novels and short stories, most of which involve a client's murder trial. Typically, Mason establishes his client's innocence (rather than a verdict of 'not guilty') by implicating another character, who then confesses.
The character of Perry Mason was adapted for motion pictures and a long-running radio series.[1] These were followed by the well-known adaptation, the CBS television series Perry Mason (1957–1966) starring Raymond Burr. A second television series, The New Perry Mason starring Monte Markham, ran from 1973 to 1974; and 30 Perry Mason television films ran from 1985 to 1995, with Burr reprising the role of Mason in 26 of them prior to his death in 1993.[2] A third television series, HBO's Perry Mason starring Matthew Rhys started airing in 2020.

The PT must be young. DD is 32 and I am not sure if she would know who he was. I'll have to ask her. My mother loved that show and now DH is watching the late night reruns of the series with Raymond Burr.
ETA: Just sent DD a text. Her answer is No, she doesn't know who Perry Mason is.

I know who the character is, but I have never seen the show and would not be able to identify a picture of said character.

Perry Mason reruns always played at noon and it was a staple for my brother and me during the summer growing up (I'm 37). Black and white! So glamorous! Haven't watched the new one quite yet but looking forward to it.

I never missed the series when I was a kid. I loved Perry Mason and Della and Paul Drake. I haven't seen the series since. It must be running in tv somewhere. Now that I am reminded, I'll have to look for the old series.

I have never watched Perry Mason nor read any books. My idea of Perry Mason is a detective or a detective show. That is what I think Perry Mason is all about. I didn't vote.. lol And I am 51. I am almost positive neither of my older kids will know who he is. They are 24 and 25.

I watched Perry Mason in reruns (glorious reruns from my childhood in the 70-80s). When I was in language school in the late 80s we would rush back to the barracks at lunch to try and beat the Days of Our Lives fans so we could watch Perry Mason instead.

Barely, all I knew was that it was a TV character and I thought it was a lawyer. Never seen the show.

I won’t be watching the new series. Perry Mason without the “ real” Perry Mason is not Perry Mason.

I watched it when I was a kid, my mum was a big fan of Raymond Burr. A random fact- Raymond Burr lived in Fiji and he loved orchids and the famous Garden of the Sleeping Giants was started to house his orchid collection. My mum lived in Fiji for a while and loved the garden. ( her garden back here in Australia had quite a collection of orchids)On our 5th trip to Fiji we actually stayed at the Orchid which was his original home. It is very 70's and has lots of photos and memorabilia. Only 6 bures so very private. Now after all that I shall definitely check out the new series! Corinne
