Help! I’m 58, 5’9” and 20 lbs overweight. The entire 20 lbs is around my waist, creating big muffin top. I think my hips/thighs are two sizes smaller than my waist. Already looked at Gap, I only see jeans for my 28 yr old dd. Where should I look (online) for jeans?

I stand by NY and Co jean. They have just the right stretch. I am about your ht, and over wt. They are also the right length for being a tall girl. I don't have to buy talls. I'm about 5'8 though. They are also reasonably priced.

I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs. I found that I LOVE the Denizen Marissa jeans from Target. I have the bootleg and crops. Love them both!

I'm 5'7" and overweight also. I get the curvy skinny jeans from Old Navy. They come in several washes, light to dark. I catch them on sale when I need thwm.

Yes—NYDJ. Awesome jeans. Have a higher waist that contain the muffin but are not “mom jeans”. Love their bootcuts. They recommend to buy one size smaller than what you are in. Macy’s carries some in store, or you can order directly from NYDJ. Do the six hour test-wear them, sit in them without taking the tags off to check fit. Some of the blends will start snug and stretch out more then others. Even across the same style, like bootcut, the fabrics can be different.

Kut from the Kloth are great. I do find it’s better to go down 1 size even if you feel like they fit perfectly.

I’m not a fan of NYDJ They are too stretchy. They seem a bit old dated at times too.

I like NYDJ and Chico’s. Wait until Chico’s has a sale. Both are higher waisted to help control a muffin top.

I like Wit & Wisdom jeans at Nordstroms. They are a little pricey but not bad and help control the muffin top.

I can only wear high rise. It holds everything in. I’ll never go back to mid or low rise.
I really feel like gap and old navy are for young people. After I had kids I moved on.

Another option might be Torrid. They have sizes to fit 10-28. Lots of different options for rises, cuts, etc. Hope it's helpful!

Do the wear test like someone else said, and don't be afraid to tailor the waist. I am not overweight, but I have a pear shape. I buy to fit the hips and tailor the waist.

It seems that some people are suggesting brands that work well for pear shape. But that isn’t what the op said. She said that her waist is larger than her legs. Much harder to Tailor a waist that is too small.

Much harder to Tailor a waist that is too small. Yes. I’ve tried buying jeans big enough to fit my waist and tried taking in the 2 to 4 inches per leg to make them fit properly, but I think my rudimentary sewing skills are not up to the challenge. The alteration was never comfortable. I just gave up and became a fan of Uniqlo's leggings pants which come in petite length and work perfectly for me without the huge thighs and butt.

Inc from Macy's are the best I have found, along with the curvy fit from The Loft. I will say that the Inc brand is so comfy because it has some stretch to it.
