He officially banned businesses from saying people have to wear masks.  Some of the mayors aren't taking it though. Savannah's mayor says "It's officially official. Governor Kemp does not give a damn about us." My son and his fiancée and her daughter live in Georgia.  Any other Peas there? It is a huge set up that will require businesses and police to spend unnecessary energy and resources to enforce individual business’ rules if they choose to run their businesses responsibly. Although, who knows if the police will respond if the governor has said that mask rules cannot be set at the government level. The blatant irresponsibility and disregard of human life is staggering. |

I wonder how that's going to work with Walmart now that they're requiring masks nationwide. Even our uber conservative, spineless waste of a governor in Alabama issued a mask mandate.

I live in Georgia. While he banned cities from declaring masks are required, businesses can still say they are. We are not ALL idiots here, I promise! I live in a very busy metro area and everywhere I go the majority of people are wearing masks. We get it. Not all of us, but most of us.
I saw a sign the other day that say "Kovid Kemp". It made me laugh but also is very true.

Our governor now has Covid and refuses to issue a mask order! I just don't know what's wrong with people - he posed for a picture at a restaurant he was eating at on the day he began feeling ill.

He is also the person who was Sec of State in Georgia who shut down so many polling places, purged the voter rolls... probably at the expense of Stacy Adams losing her run for Governor. I was listening to Nicole Wallace on MSNBC when Trump was on the tarmac, and she happened to be interviewing the Mayor of Atlanta. She said he was breaking the law at the moment, without a mask because the airport is owned Atlanta, and she had mandated masks. Can’t have the big dope get his stupid ego in a twist, hence a no mask mandate. |

Earlier on before Masks were being mandated but heavily encouraged, several police departments across the country put out notices on FB that they don't enforce wearing the mask part, however business have a right to make certain rules about shopping in their stores. Mask wearing falls under that category. If a store asks you to wear a mask and you don't, you will be asked to leave and they have the right to do so. Where they come in is if the person being asked to wear the mask, doesn't want to and refuses to leave after being asked to. Then its trespassing and the cops can get involved.
This was an example of how masks were not required by the city, state or federal level yet, but businesses could make the decision for their store to only allow people in who are wearing masks. I would think the same applies in GA since it was one of their own departments I saw a notice from. The governor may not mandate it but businesses can require them and they can have you removed from the store if you chose not to comply. Kinda like no shirt no shoes.

And... my ds has just sent me the emergency notice they just got, to say that three hospitals -- two of which are where he lives -- are basically full. "ER saturation" and "COVID-19 saturation" it says. But everyone should just carry on with no masks.  Fucking idiot. Why can't these idiots get it and get really sick??? |

The state says people aren't required to wear a mask so a city/county can't enforce a mask ordinance. Businesses have EVERY right to require one before you enter. My choice to enter and wear a mask or my choice to go somewhere else. |
