Is there anyone here that can help me with an iPhone issue? I purchased a new I phone 11 with the hopes that the annoying messages that says “this phone hasn’t been backed up in so many weeks” not enough storage on my phone. Bought a new phone with more space and I’m still getting the message!!! My daughter said it’s my I cloud that’s full. How can I get rid of this message!!! I don’t need the cloud. No clue what’s even on it! Thanks in advance if you can help me.

If the message is “this phone hasn’t been backed up in x number of weeks,” it wants you to back up your phone. It doesn’t mean that your Cloud storage is full. If that’s the case, you will get a message that says your Cloud storage is full and the phone can’t be backed up.
Do you store your contacts and/or photos on the Cloud? For me, that’s the most valuable usage. If my phone is stolen or lost, I won’t lose my photos and I won’t have to re-enter all those contacts. I have my phone set to back up nightly. It needs to be plugged in and connected to the internet to do so.
If you are determined not to back up your phone, go to Settings—>tap your name at the top—>iCloud—>iCloud backup—>turn off the switch next to iCloud backup.
if your iCloud is full, you can purchase it 1TB at a time. I believe it’s $0.99 a month.

Your daughter is correct, it’s your iCloud that’s full. You get a small amount of cloud storage free when you get an iPhone or iPad. I think the only way you can get rid of the message is to either go into the cloud and delete everything (there is probably lots of old stuff you don’t want), or buy more storage. I have never done either; I just clear the notification whenever I get it. ![](https://media.fotki.com/2v2JGmVoCxA5eGL.gif) ETA ![:yeahthat:](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/yrGoHMAelQz8f2Qt0sjb.jpg) ⬆️ what she said!

If you don't have the lowest paid plan - it is only 99 cents a month for 50 GB and a great deal to ensure that your pictures etc are on the cloud. Good luck!!

Agree with all said above. Just adding that although an extra storage plan is cheap it may not be necessary. I am a heavy iPhone user and have loads of data backed up on iCloud but still find 5gB is enough. It’s mostly photos and especially videos that take up space. If you back your photos up to Google Photos for free, for example, or Onedrive if you already have an Office 365 subscription, the backup happens quickly and easily in the background meaning you can quickly delete the media stored on your phone (don’t forget to clear WhatsApp photos and videos regularly too), keeping your iCloud space free for other things.

So I put my pictures on my computer and don’t need them in I cloud. Is there a way to stop them from going on my cloud?

So I put my pictures on my computer and don’t need them in I cloud. Is there a way to stop them from going on my cloud? While it's fine to keep pictures on your computer, I highly suggest keeping a copy in the cloud or on an external hard drive. If something were to happen with the hard drive, motherboard, etc., and eventually it will, you will lose pictures.
