This is a space to whine about the little ways the pandemic has affected you.
Please no judging or shaming. This is literally a petty vent thread.

My petty vent is that I didn't get to go on my scrap weekend in March

My stitch n bitch group was cancelled.
The wine and wool fest I was going to check out was cancelled.
The people I really wanted to see at my kid's grad party didn't show up.
I'm tired of take out.

My petty vent is that we are so tired of staying home. My second petty vent is that my order of storage items is now eight weeks overdue and my credit card will not let me dispute it because I have a ship date...which keeps changing.

I miss doing anything and going anywhere interesting, and I really, really regret not doing those things last fall instead of planning on doing them this spring & summer (for fiscal responsibility reasons).
I'm doubting Halloween & Trick or Treating activities will be a thing this year. Yes, we can still dress up. Yes, I can give them candy. But no, it's not the same, and it sucks.
I have missed & will miss attending the kids' school events. Halloween costume parade, winter concert, awards ceremony, etc.
This was going to be the year that I took myself out more and remembered that I am more than just "Mom." Now I literally am home with the kids, then go to work, then immediately return to the kids. It's exhausting & I need to emotionally recharge & it's just not possible right now.
There will probably be no outside Thanksgiving & Christmas festivities. And that sucks.

My petty vent is that I'm burned out, bored, and sick of cooking everyday since March. We take care of my SO's mom who is in her 80's with multiple medical issues, so we are being admittedly overly cautious about the virus and that has meant no eating out and no take out. In our heads we know it's probably overkill, but if one of us gets it, she'll get it and she will most likely not survive. Besides, the rest of her kids are not involved in her care, but fairly judgemental so we've resigned ourselves to being crazy careful just in case. I'm on board with our decision, but still sick of cooking...

I was going to visit my daughter today, 2 hours away, but she had to cancel. She may have been exposed to covid 19 Thursday, her office had only been back 9 days.

I'm tired of doing everyone else's job and not mine. Covid wiped it out for the unforeseeable future.

I like to shop and I want to go visit the kids for s weekend but I am not sitting outside a vehicle on the ferry this summer and I can’t drive there. I really want to go visit as my son needs support right now.
BFF needs to come visit right now and the border is closed between countries. She needs me (and I need her). Right now especially. My heart is breaking.

I can't go be around crowds or in small spaces. No farmer's markets, rummage sales, craft shows, small "town square" shops, boutiques, local festivals, small garden shops, etc...
No craft meetups, no in-person classes, no dine-in, no coffee shops, and no tea houses.
I could go into bigger stores during off-peak hours but haven't. Except for one early morning trip to the Lowe's garden center when there were only a couple other customers. I just don't feel like it, TBH.

today's vent - Michaels had a glitch and my order didn't go through - they still charged me though and it'll be 3-5 days for a refund. AND I'm almost out of white cardstock. I like M's better than HL but M's is in a mall so I've been doing kerbside (HL is so much bigger and easier to social distance in). And I'm only shopping once a week so I have to wait until next weekend to try again.
In general? I'm tired of people being here all the time...i'm an introvert and I miss my peace and quiet

The International Quilt Festival was cancelled. That was always my "me" time and a chance to really be inspired artistically. Looking at quilts (online) just doesn't give the same effect as being inches away from them and seeing the details.
I am tired of being at home with DH 24/7. When you take the dog for a ride around the neighborhood and a drive through Whataburger just to get away from your spouse, it's gotten bad! I need some of that old adage...absence makes the heart grow fonder!

I'm tired of being home! I don't feel like there are a lot of places you can go and safely distance. Things like eating outside in the hot sun are unappealing to me.
Everything is so much more difficult. Both of my dogs have been sick on and off for more than a month. Everything about getting, seeing and dealing with vet appts is so much more difficult than I could have imagined.

There is a graham cracker shortage. And we recently bought a fire chat table and love to have s’mores. The grocery guy told me today he hasn’t seen them since the 4th of July
Puzzles are super pricey or non existent (the ones I want anyway). I was doing puzzles before this happened so it’s annoyingly they become a hot item

Same vent since a few days after the stay home orders were put in place: I am tired of spending so much time at home alone.
Then I hear about what others are going through and I tell myself to STFU.

There is very little that I dislike about sheltering in place. I'm an introvert and I LOVE being home.
However, I'm devastated about the impact of the pandemic on my 19 year old son. He's miserable being stuck here and missing his spring semester and virtually all of his athletic season (he plays D1 lacrosse). We've relaxed a little with him, and let him go hang with friends (though I think he'd probably go even if we said no). He does ask for "permission," and we let him go. His restaurant summer job is a no-go, because his boss is committed to keeping his long-time employees paid (the bus boy team has some older adults who need the money for rent). No one else is hiring college students. He's so bored.
He's heading back to college in a couple of weeks, and no one can say what that's going to look like. Fortunately his school is in a place where COVID is on the decline (Queens, NY), so I feel relatively okay about having him away.

We usually go to Ohio or Maryland on July to get away from the insane heat and humidity here. But we're staying extremely close to home since I'm at extra risk to catch covid. I hate sitting inside all day because it's so hot outside. I miss that time outside in cooler weather that we used to get in July. But I'm grateful for air conditioning!
I'm also ready for my husband to be gone a little more. Not a lot, just a little! He's worked from home since March.

I’m tired of a solid visitation schedule being on hold because of the uncertainty with hybrid or all online or who knows what school schedules.
And I’m bummed getting oldest back to college isn’t going to be an end of summer vacation and college visits trip for dd.
And it’s freaking HOT and HUMID. My tomato plants are near death and the lettuce is gone.

Then I hear about what others are going through and I tell myself to STFU. It's all relative isn't it but loneliness is a hard thing to deal with ((hugs)) We should be looking forward to s special trip for our 30th wedding anniversary in September. Nothing is even booked because we're very wary of the likelihood of a second spike and new travel restrictions. Even if we can go somewhere we don't want to get stuck there or have to come home and quarantine, because of work..

My college kids are going to be home allll day. Which means no private conversations in my house.
I’m already tired of climbing up and down the basement stairs during DD’s self isolation and it’s only day 3. She came home from school in FL abruptly on Thursday due to covid on campus.

I don't like that the quarantine period is so long. I wish it was 3-5 days!
I will be sad if high school and college football doesn't happen. I have a college senior on the dance team at a big ACC university and would be so sad if she doesn't get to perform/cheer at the football games. She loves the stadium! Same with basketball season. My youngest is on her high school band (pom squad) and she would hate to miss her senior season too.

Ds was playing at a local restaurant every Thurs. night - alternating open mic and him singing. Dh and I got in the fun habit of going, having a bite to eat (Dh is NOT a goer, so this was great for me!), I got to sing a bit at his open mic nights, and sometimes we had friends meet us for dinner. Yeah, it’s petty, but gosh I miss those Thursday nights out.
We also missed watching the AR Razorback baseball team play this year. I upgraded our router so we could stream most of the games, and they just got to play a few.
Ds and I have been attending the Arkansas State Fiddler’s Convention for years, and of course, that was cancelled too.
