Wow, the silence in my house is so loud today. For the first time in 150 days I am by myself, just me and the animals.
Both kids returned to their universities, DS on Friday, DD yesterday. Very bittersweet.
On one hand I do love having them here and I knew they were safe during the quarantine, but after that long I really need a break, LOL.
It is always sad when they go off to school, but this is the first time I am actually worrying about their well being. However, they are very good at following the safety recommendations (masks, handwashing, social distancing) and they are taking a combination of in person, online, and hybrid classes. Another plus is that they are taking mostly major classes, so they are much smaller.
The dog is incredibly depressed, the cats are annoyed that I am the only person in the house to ignore.
DH and I just need a bit of a break, LOL.

Haha, I feel like you have markings on your bedroom wall counting the days 😉 Enjoy your free time. Try not to worry although that is easier said than done, isn't it?

I am dreading my daughter leaving. We've got about 9 or 10 days left. I will miss her laughter and lively conversation. What I wont miss is her many pair of shoes clogging up the entry way!!

Whenever I have started missing them today I would remind myself of the small things that they were doing that annoyed me, LOL. I was sending messages like "which one of you stole my dryer balls?" and "yeah! Didn't have a single lifesaver wrapper to pick up this morning!"

I have not been alone in my home, not even for 5 minutes, not even for 1 minute, in 145 days. I hear you!

Sounds heavenly. Pre-COVID I was the only one home. Dh worked downtown, dd was out of state for school and ds is in state but in his own place. Now dd and dh are both home. Him working and she is in college 100% online.
I miss the alone time too.

OMG - DH can't throw away his Lifesaver wrappers either. I am constantly picking them up, because it drives me crazy.

I totally understand. Our 28-year-old moved in thanks to a job opportunity, and she brought her two dogs with her. With her and our 20-year-old college student at home, we have a full house. I sometimes take drives alone just to have me time. It's very therapeutic.
