Isn't Carrie a whiny bitch at times? I really dislike watching those scenes. Does she ever get called out on being an asshole? I turn it off... but I like the craziness and always go back.

I love the show but with a 12 year old it’s hard to squeeze in all the inappropriate shows! 🤣🤣🤣 I can remember a few scenes where I wanted to say “really Carrie?” Lol

The women that give all women the reputation of being a B. Her, Debra on Everyone Loves Raymond, Jill on Home Improvement, Carrie of King of Queens and a slew more, but those came to mind first. Why do they portray woman like this?

I watched the whole series and she was my least favorite of the leads — I found that character hard to watch and impossible to relate to.
There are a few times she gets called out, but not in proportion to how annoying she is.

Why do they portray woman like this? I think those women are strong and badass bitches, in some situations. carrie is a whiner..oh poor me I kissed Aidan and now I'm so upset that big will give me a huge ring to remind me that I'm his woman.

It’s actually a very important point, besides the obvious fact that one is the name of the show and the other is not. The City wasn’t the setting (which would be the meaning of “in the city”), the City is the fifth character (hence “and the City”). The author has talked about it at length.

I can't remember her being particularly whiny, and I've watched it many times over. I like her character even though I don't relate to her or her lifestyle. The only time(s) I really disliked her was when she dumped / cheated on Aiden x 2. Looooove Aiden!

But I loved the show and the relationships of the four women at a time when I was always told that three women couldn’t be friends, much less four. I never understood the Carrie/Mr Big relationship. So many red flags. And when Carrie cheated on Aiden, I was out on her. I think the most well written character was Samantha. So much of her own woman and taken by surprise when she falls in love with Smith, even though he was young and not a superficial model and actor.

I always thought Miranda was the bitch. I'm not so sure about whiney, but she was a real bitch most of the series.

Carrie was annoying because she was so selfish. When Miranda calls her out for her never ending neurotic moaning and whining about Big, I agreed. Everything was always about her. She cheats on Aiden, works him hard to get back together, but doesn’t want him really and breaks his heart a second time. She and Big deserved each other.
ETA: I didn’t watch the show when it aired. I didn’t start watching until just as it was ending. I liked it, but not Carrie. She was a child who rarely asserted her own agency. She was always the victim of something or someone. When she finally stood up for herself, she walked right into Big’s arms and let him “take care of her”.
