I finished reading Alternate Side by Anna Quindlen and 500 Miles from You by Jenny Colgan.
I thoroughly enjoyed each of these books and would recommend them. My only problem was, in 500 Miles from You, the author references the song "Sunshine on Leith" by the Proclaimers several times. I had not heard this song, so of course, had to YouTube it. What a gorgeous song! and I could not get it out of my head for three days!

This is mnmloveli's review of the book I just finished: " THE WIFE AND THE WIDOW (2020) BY CHRISTIAN WHITE : 5 STARS Description: Set against the backdrop of an eerie island town in the dead of winter. It is told from two perspectives: Kate, a widow whose grief is compounded by what she learns about her dead husband's secret life and Abby, an island local whose world is turned upside down when she's forced to confront the evidence of her husband's guilt. When these women come together, they will discover the whole story about the men in their lives. Review: First book by this author for me was The Nowhere Child (2019) which I gave 5 stars too ! I love when a book starts and you can't imagine how the main two characters will connect. At 60% I was still guessing as the layers were coming undone. What a great mystery ! A big light came on at about 70% - don't assume anything ! A great awakening to what really was being told ! How she revealed the true story line was awesome." It sums up the book quite nicely. I was reading it in bed last night and right before I was ready to turn the light out WHAM, the author hits me smack in the face. With what, I won't say because it would ruin the book. I give it 4.5/5 stars because occasionally, while reading it, I found it a little hard to follow. Also, I think the author is a man.

I’m always inordinately pleased when I hear of someone coming across it for the first time! (And just in case you have never heard of Leith before, it’s in Edinburgh. There are docks there, and it’s where cruise liners come in to the city.)

I read Friends and Strangers by J. courtney Sullivan. This is the third book I've read this year that is about a mother and her babysitter (the other two being Happy and You Know It and Such a Fun Age). All the stories diverge from this plot point, but it's seems to be a theme of books I've been reading. I liked this one the best. It's a character driven novel which I tend to enjoy.Basically you have two women, the older is able to look at the younger one and see the mistakes she's making and the younger can look at the older and judge that she has made some bad choices getting to where she is in her life. It's an interesting dynamic. Probably a bit on the slow side, but ultimately it gave me a lot to ponder when I finished. I'm reading a book about a pandemic and all I have to say is you people who are reading this genre are crazy -it's giving me nightmares. That sounds really interesting. I’m at that place in my life where the priorities of younger women seem ridiculous to me, but I sure did make my own mistakes!
