We jumped thru every hoop until last night. His Covid test came back negative. His CT scan yesterday afternoon showed no new tumor growth. Got him all ready for today.....
Got him to the hospital at 5am and said a LONG goodbye. Surgery began at 7, and the team called me at 9am to tell me that he was responding "excellently". Phew!!!!!! They called at 11 am to say that the tumor is ALL out, as is the bladder, prostate and some lymph nodes, and they'd begin reconstruction. She just called to say they're all done and he did wonderfully and "not to worry" (ha!).
He's headed to recovery now. His surgeon will call me (hope that's nothing to worry about!!!!) in an hour, and then I should hear how he's doing in a few hours. He'll be in recovery for quite a while.
THANK YOU to everyone who gave their prayers, positive thoughts and hugs. I appreciate it to no end, really!!!!!!! I"m so relieved that I made cinnamon buns! LOL.
Ooh, saw my eye surgeon. My socket looks healthy, but now I DO need 1 more eye surgery, stat (another fat graft). Ughhhhh! She also ordered an MRI to figure out this continued new headpain.
Thank you all again! I am SO relieved about DH making it thru that long, arduous surgery!!! Thank God.

Awesome news! You have both been through so much and I hope you are now turning the corner to a good recovery for him and the needed surgery for you! Tell your DH the peas are rooting for him! Hang in there! I've found it is much harder to be the one waiting than the one having surgery.

That's fantastic news!!! I'm a fellow bladder cancer patient and I hope this brings him nothing but good health going forward. Best of luck to you on your eye surgery. Wishing you the best on your bladder cancer journey. I'm not sure which part you're up to, but you could msg me if you'd like to talk about it. We're relieved just to have his bladder out. Wish he did it a few years ago, but we ran into insurance blockages! It'll take time to get used to having the ostomy bag but since he was self-cathing 3x/day anyway, it should be easier and less invasive. As long as he's healthier, it's all good!
Prayers to you on your whole journey, and thank you about my future eye surgery. Thinking it won't be for at least 2 months, until DH is fully recovered from this big surgery.
