We stopped in March. We had belonged to Planet Fitness for almost two years and just changed (upgraded lol) to LA Fitness in February so probably went less than a month. They didn't charge us for two months but charged our annual fee and then monthly fees beginning in May. So it's been four months that we have been paying and not going.
I really feel uncomfortable going. Even before this happened we commented that the people at PF wiped off equipment much better/more often than LA Fitness. Also our PF had paper towel/cleaning stations closer to each other than LA Fitness has.
So I'm thinking of cancelling it (DH and me--about $50/month total). I can do the Leslie Sansone app for $8/month.
Are you going/not going/still paying?

DH & I just talked about this yesterday, and I am going to cancel mine. Like with yours, they didn't charge the first 2-3 months of Covid-19 lockdowns, but now they've started charging again because they're open but I'm not going. I don't think I'll feel comfortable going for a long enough time that I'll just find something else (or rejoin there) when I'm ready.

My barre studio started doing online classes maybe a day after they had to close. They have worked their tushes off to keep their members happy -- they sold equipment, had all sorts of themed playlists, have had community-building virtual events to raise money for causes. Someone will pry my membership out of my cold, dead hands!

DH is still paying his Y membership. Our local one never reopened but a few in the county did for a couple months and he could have gone to one of them. I know they've been offering some online classes.
My yoga studio just announced today that they are closing permanently Aug 31 and I'm a little heartbroken. They immediately transitioned to online classes in March and I've been doing a few classes a week. We will have access to their video library until the end of the year.
DD is a Planet Fitness member. I'm pretty sure they suspended her payments during the first shutdown and she was thrilled when they reopened. With the second closing I'm not sure if she is paying.

I go to Orange Theory. We are only at 50% capacity and I go 3/week. However, they are allowing membership freezes if you want.

My sil goes to a CrossFit gym $168/month. They reopened but you must have one of the limited appointments. Because of his work he can never get an appointment. He is going to cancel.

Our gyms are set to reopen next week, and I'm not interested in going.
Well, I'd like to go, but I don't believe it's safe.
Not sure what DH and I will do.

Our gym never closed (?!), but, I have only been once since March. They never stopped payments, and I have kept paying in hope that it is safe to go back, soon.

Planet Fitness still is not open in NY, so they stopped charging us back in March. I still pay for Crossfit but I've been going. We're open for outdoor workouts for probably 6 weeks now. We are allowed inside as per the governor on 9/2.

I’m a member of a crossfit gym. They have worked really hard to be safe, stay in business and follow our states changing guidelines.
They gave us two free months to make up for their covid closure time. They opened up the middle/end of June. They taped out individual halos that were 150’. Each halo has two pieces of cardio equipment, a bench, weight plates, a large bottle of sanitizer and a Costco pack of disinfectant wipes. Our workouts are posted every Sunday and on screens in the gym. We are masked any time we are outside our halo, we have to sanitize our hands when we walk in. When we are done with our workout we wipe down everything we’ve used and touched. The coaches disinfect the floors between classes. We don’t get to hang out to recover or come in too early. We are definitely doing social distancing.
I started back on July 7th and feel very safe. Our community is small and tight knit. We don’t want anyone getting sick or our gym going under.
One of my friends is a member of Planet Fitness and she is getting ready to go back. She is being very careful and watching the app that tells how many people are in the gym. She is not going at all if she doesn’t feel it’s safe. Another friend is a member of LA Fitness and she isn’t comfortable going back but also doesn’t think her location is open yet.

Ours is suspended for now. We will wait and see. We also go to a tiny private gym that suspended payments until it reopened. It is in a warehouse space with the huge garage door open. Only 6 people at a time and we are about 18 feet apart. We each have our own set of equipment and own cleaning station to wipe everything down when we are done. We've been back for about a month. We are totally comfortable there.

We are totally comfortable there. I forgot, our gym has four garage doors, two on each side, that are also open. Our space used to be some type of auto shop, so they are oversized doors. And we can only have 5 people per class. Sign ups open at midnight two days before class. Waking up in the middle of the night to pee is finally paying off

We are still paying the Y membership. They have only been opened for a month but my kids are using it now. My dd has to set appts for the pool and my son said the weight room is only at 50% capacity.

I belong to our county rec center and they gave everyone a refund or a credit. I think they've reopened now but I'm not going.

I canceled ours. It's a rabbit warren of rooms with no outside ventilation. The rooms are small, and there is absolutely no way to distance. I'm sad, because I really enjoyed going there. But it won't be safe until this is all over.

I belong to the community centre by my house. We pay by term and would have had to repay end of March but it closed so I never did. Our gym isn’t open again yet. It’s set to open in sept for kids programming - I don’t think my aerobics classes will be running. The teacher is doing her classes on zoom for $2.50 a class so I’ve been doing those regularly. She started that in May and I’ve been so grateful.

One of my FB friends posted last night. She paid up front for a year. In cash. Her gym has reopened but she doesn’t feel comfortable. She asked for a refund. They are letting the month to month cancel but refuse to refund any money to those who paid in full. Since she paid in cash, she has no recourse with CC. She’s looking into small claims court.

We belonged to LA Fitness as well and canceled. They closed in March and opened back up in June, I think. I don’t know because we had already decided not to go back. I am running outside for a few more months and practice yoga on YouTube. I hate the treadmill, so I’m trying to gear up to make myself run outside this winter. We’ll see how that goes. History suggests I am a huge baby when it’s cold. But I’m also stubborn enough to make myself just for that reason! 😊

I do CrossFit, and have not been to the gym in 5 months. My box offered videos and loaned equipment out during the shutdown. I paid for 3 months and then put my membership on hold. They are back open now, with lots of new precautions in place (limits on class size, workout squares, equipment sanitizing after each class).
I am hoping to go back next month. They have good protocols in place to prevent spread so i feel comfortable, for me it's mostly been schedule.

I had a Y membership for my son and I but we rarely used it as we both prefer outdoor exercise for the most part. I kept it until they reopened to help support the mission, but then I canceled.

Gyms in MI still aren't open. Planet Fitness has not charged us our fees since March. We want to cancel but we can't because it has to be done in person. The day they open is when I'm going in to cancel.

We just cancelled our Planet Fitness membership too. Figure if things (ever) improve we can sign up again.

My son pays 66 a month for crossfit and i thought that was pricey. A couple months ago when they reopened you had to call in advance and book a class time, he would set an alarm for 4 am to make sure he got a spot and then go back to sleep. But dang if I can't get him motivated to unload the dishwasher LOL I guess I’m a dummy but I had no idea gyms were even open anywhere... Been a few month now around here. It's worth the 20 mile drive for my kid. Dance studio is back open too.

We canceled in May. We kept paying through the time they were closed to help a small business stay afloat. But once they opened up, the restrictions were tough. So we canceled.

I have a membership at Lifetime that I have frozen right now for either 10 or 15/month. I want to cancel it, but they require you to go in person to do so which I think is total BS. I have a Peloton and weights, so I have no need for the gym any longer.
