All I want is her scrapbook organizing shelves. WOW!
And I think so. We're stuck at home and there is just so much cleaning we can all do!

I was surprised Creative Memories used poor, outdated examples in their segment.
I like Amy’s shelves too. I have a similar set up using bookshelves and old stackable cubes from my kids rooms. Mine are deeper and very sturdy so the can hold a lot of paper. I always go vertical to maximize storage.

Interesting. I haven't looked at CM in years. They were always so far behind the curve in what scrapbookers wanted.

I think her shelves are a scrapbox. The little table is what made me think so.

I think her shelves are a scrap box, too. I think she received one from the company. If you search on YouTube, there’s probably a video showing it in detail. Agree about CM. Not sure why they chose to highlight that company or why CM chose older style pages. Sorry, but if I didn’t already scrapbook, none of those would inspire me to start.

OK, I'm half way through and this is just nonsense. Number one, Amy's last name isn't Tangerine. They repeatedly used it as her last name in the piece and in the caption/story. They've misrepresented a lot of what she does, especially in the caption.
AT has had this "side hustle" (hate that term) for a lot longer than the last six months - she just had to change it up a bit during the pandemic. They've interviewed her about one thing and twisted it into a story about something else entirely. She didn't even say that scrapbooking was making a comeback, just that it's a cool thing. I don't even know that she was talking about why it's especially awesome now.
Yes, Etsy sticker shops can respond to "trends" and movements like Black Lives Matter very quickly. Great, are people watching this going to conclude that they should start a crappy sticker shop to compete with artists who have been building their audience for years? And who legitimately have something to say about social justice?
Oh, CM has a "social selling model" - this is news? And those pages (face palm)
They reached out to 2 random "scrapbook companies" and concluded that this is a great way for people to make money during the pandemic. What? I'm glad if some businesses are doing well during the pandemic, I'm glad people are enjoying the hobby, and I hope people are making some money, but this video is just nonsense.
Also yes, AT, always happy to take free stuff and sell it to her audience, has a couple of detailed DreamBox videos on her channel. One is a set up video, about 8 mins, one is a 20 min tour after she got it all filled up. If you have a spare couple of thou you too can have one.

I had a Scrapbox...sold it. I found it inconvenient and it was horrible to assemble.

All I want is her scrapbook organizing shelves. WOW! It's called Create Room. I couldn't find an actual base price for it on the website. You have to go through some process for all the customization.
AT has had this "side hustle" (hate that term) I was going to post the same thing!
Oh, CM has a "social selling model" - this is news? And those pages (face palm) I know! I don't have anything against CM style scrapping besides cutting photos into shapes (guilty of it in my early scrapping years). I've seen someone who does some great cohesive pages with just some stickers and simple journaling using only CM products.

Amy Tangerine and Creative Memories seem like... not quite the right people to interview here. Especially CM talking about millennials. Oh no, millennials will not be flocking to that brand, let me tell you. I've noticed some people doing a more old-timey form of scrapbooking on social media. Mostly just getting photos printed and in a spiral notebook with some words. Very simple, not expensive, far removed from the pretty embellishments and search for perfection. It's quite refreshing!

Interesting. I haven't looked at CM in years. They were always so far behind the curve in what scrapbookers wanted. It's funny, because I am working on a CM album right now! A friend of mine decided she did not want these albums and gave me a few of them, 7x7 and 8x8, and a couple 12x12. They are HARD to use! I have almost done two pages upside down, because I flipped them vertically instead of sideways, and because the actual page is very sturdy, I don't know whether or not to use cardstock or other paper on top of it, but I don't want just white! I feel quite spoiled with my WRMK page protectors and 12x12 albums!

You would be surprised... I went to a few crops and there were many people scrapbooking in the old style using embellishments and stickers that I thought cannot be bought nowadays. I see some Facebook groups where these types of embellishments are still sold and people still make old fashion pages. Most of people moved on with the modern times but the old-fashioned scrapbooking still exists as well.

I have been scrapbooking since 1996 and in the crops I've gone to "recently" (like the last 10 years) and all the Saturday nights at Archivers, I haven't seen anything like that since about '98. Well, more power to them, but I can't cut up my pics anymore. Some of my old scrapbooks break my heart, with cut up piccs I can't replace.

Creative memories actually has some really nice collections nowadays. I still shop from them (I’m not a consultant or anything) and use their stuff! I do mix it in with plenty of other brands, I’m no loyalist lol
I have no idea if people are really scrapping more. I know I am. My mom is doing more crafting, but not scrapping. A lot of people my age are super busy with working from home and virtual schooling their kiddos. The pandemic has given some people more free time, maybe, but others are definitely more busy.

I belong to a scrapbook Facebook group and there are a lot of people in it that scrap the old way, with products I haven't seen in 15 years. I was amazed when I first joined the group- I had to check if those were current posts, and they were. There is no wrong way to scrapbook, however that is definitely NOT my style. I'm just surprised that, with all of the online resources and examples out there, people still scrapbook like that. It seems very limiting, but more power to them. Do what makes you happy. I know Creative Memories basically started the whole scrapbook fad but I am not a fan of that style. I also remember when they kept saying that there was only one way to scrap and the rest of us were doing it wrong. I think some people got thrown out of crops because they were using "contraband".

I go to large crops locally and people still scrapbook in the old fashioned CM style. I also see some project life, December Daily, lots of cutting machines with pieced page designs, Scrapbook Generation sketches, Kiwi Lane designs, and lots of card makers using the latest and greatest tools and supplies.
I did think CM should have used newer designed pages mixed with the old school pages. I actually started with CM back in the late 90’s and the designs then were better than what I saw in that piece.

I also remember when they kept saying that there was only one way to scrap and the rest of us were doing it wrong. I think some people got thrown out of crops because they were using "contraband". Oh yes! I used to scrap acid-free prior to CM, but stuff was HARD to find. I had to go into art stores. I loved that CM had supplies for me, but the first crop I went to, they told me all that and I never did another page for a long time. Then my neighbor took it up and I told her that I'd love to come to her crops, but I wanted to use my own stuff. I'd use her albums, but my other stuff. She said yes and subsequently made a fortune off me. She did tell me about contraband, but always in jest. CM, however, did say there was ONE right way. And I still see a LOT of people scrap like that. But I am in the South. Uh. and I still have all my CM stickers. Probably a couple hundred dollars worth. I SMATHER them all over birthday cards I send out. I have a giant drawer devoted to literally 10,000 or more stickers.
