I did a search and basically found info on e-readers but I'm looking for something that is more like a Tablet I think. I want to be able to play games, surf the web, email, watch Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc. AND be comfortable and easy to use as an e-reader with the Nook & Kindle Apps.
Is there such an animal?? I am a loyal Nook(I have the NookHD) user but mine is slowly dying and can't be "updated" so I can't use it to watch anything but Netflix. LOL
ETA: I'd rather it be an Android. I'm not really fond of Apple (iPad).

I read books using the kindle app on my iPad whenever I read indoors. I have a Kindle Paperwhite, but I use it mostly for outdoor reading and if I need to travel light and don’t want to bring my iPad.

iPad. I have an iPad and a Kindle Fire. I much prefer the iPad. There are a lot of apps that aren’t available on the Fire because of licensing. I’ll have to check when I’m home but I feel like I couldn’t put the Nook app on it. I mean it’s a Amazon Fire, they want you to spend money on Kindle books ya know.

DH and I both have Kindle Fires (the 10th edition, I think). We surf, check Facebook, check email, shop (Amazon!), play games and watch Netflix and Amazon Prime. We have Ipads, laptops, etc. but tend to go to our Kindles. We travel a lot and they are easy to carry and a plus is that they are inexpensive enough that if they were to get damaged, they are easily replaced.

If you like your Nook, just get another Samsung Tablet. That is what the Nook is, I believe. I have had my NookHD for several years and it is still plugging along. When it dies, I will most likely get another Samsung. I think the Tab A is equal to the Nook.

From my perspective, no tablet is good for reading in the sun, ergo I always prefer my Kindle Paperwhite

I've had a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet for several years now, switched to it when I started having issues with a Nook. It's been a great tablet, I even got one for my youngest son when he needed something better than his Nook, but wasn't ready for a phone. My only complaint has been the storage size, but a lot of the newer ones I've seen are much bigger (mine is 16gb plus an SD card, new ones are 32-128.) I almost bought a new one when they were on sale at Sam's, but I really don't need to replace mine yet.

I use both a Kindle and an iPad. The Kindle is much easier on my eyes for longer periods of reading while the tablet gives more more functionality for business and school work.

I also have a Nook, but sometimes I use my iPad. I have both the Kindle app and the Nook app on there so I can read books from both companies. The Nook is easier on my eyes, but the there are various settings in the apps to make the iPad screen easier to read from as well.

I prefer reading on an actual e reader. The paper ink technology is less strenuous on my eyes. If I read on a tablet for more than 20 minutes my eyes hurt and they get really dry.
also battery lasts for weeks on my e reader so that’s a plus.

I have an iPad (on my second one, actually, I had a 1st gen and upgraded to an Air2 several years ago) and a Kindle Fire HD that I won in a raffle and I find the Kindle interface to be soooo clunky by comparison. With the iPad I just tap once and I’m there no matter what I want to do. With the Kindle it seems like it’s tap. Tap. Tap. TAP. Ughh am I there yet? No? Ugggh!!! I also find that the Kindle gets really REALLY hot inside the case when I use it for longer periods of time. My iPad doesn’t do that.

Grrr I was given the Fire 8 as a gift last year at Christmas. I just kept it in my desk at work and used it for Spotify or watched Netflix on my lunch hour with it. Lol

I'm not really fond of Apple (iPad). Now with your ETA, I’d suggest that you start a thread asking about the best Android tablet available. Any tablet will run e-reader apps, so you can use any of them to read books. iPads are by far the best tablets out there, IMO, but Apple is out for you. I hate Android as a tablet OS, so can’t help with recommendations there. But we have plenty of Android users who can help you. Dedicated e-readers like Kindle paperwhites and Nooks have special displays that make it easier to read text-only on them and allows them to be read in the sun. If that is important to you, for the low price of e-readers (especially on Black Friday), I’d just buy one for that and a tablet for the rest of what you want to do. Otherwise get the best Android tablet you can/are willing to buy and read on that.

I love my Samsung Galaxy A tablet. I have both the Nook and Kindle apps on it.
When you download the Nook app, it will feel just like the Nook, but better.
