I think it's disappointing they felt pressured to make this decision.
Playing Pro sports is one thing. There is maturity there for the most part. There are consequences to decisions being made. Even though pro-football isn't in a bubble, there are rules to be followed, and most, if not all, Teams are taking them seriously. The Seahawks haven't had one positive Covid test since starting in person work outs and practices (same for several other teams). But, they also released a rookie who broke team rules by trying to sneak his girl into the player hotel during training camp. There are no exceptions to the rules. Safety of yourself and Team are #1.
College kids have proven they are going to party. They are going to gather. And if LSU really announced that most of their players have Covid, there you go.
The Pac 12 is holding strong, and being criticized for it. They voted to protect the long term health of their players because we don't know long term effects on the heart and other organs due to Covid. They're going to come out looking smart on this one, despite the early critcism.

I am a HUGE Big 10 fan. I have been missing Buckeye football terribly this year.
AND I think that is absolutely the WRONG decision.
I have little doubt that the scenes we witnessed at Florida State will be played out in Columbus. College football is not worth people literally dying due to increased COVID exposure.

Another Big10 fan. I also agree that this is the wrong decision. Our university has worked really hard to bring the students back on campus and currently everything is going really well. Why screw it up now...

and LSU coach announced yesterday that almost the whole team has covid... No, he said that almost the whole team has had COVID, and so he's hopeful that they are all good from here on out and it doesn't come around a second time.

and LSU coach announced yesterday that almost the whole team has covid... Not what he said but of course ESPN wanted to twist it to add to the controversy.

That’s what I heard as well. *please note that I am not supporting the decision by the Big10.

and LSU coach announced yesterday that almost the whole team has covid... What Coach O said was the most of the team has already had covid. Only 2 or 3 are currently out with it.

Which, as we know, is a ridiculous statement. The scientists have been very clear that they aren't sure what immunity does, or doesn't, look like yet.

Ugh. I think this is a terrible decision. I do too. If they get sick they’ll be out a long time, plus the risks of future health issues are unknown and could hurt their professional futures.

It sounds like the players initially caught covid due to poor decisions on their part unrelated to football earlier in the summer. LSU AD interview-USA TODAY

He shouldn’t be hopeful that they don’t get it again? He Said he’s not a doctor. He wasn’t making a medical statement or claiming he knows. Not sure why that’s a ridiculous statement. We should all be hopeful.
