There are some very interesting pieces to the vacant SCOTUS seat. Read the entire twitter thread.

Republicans are going to be like the dog that finally catches the car—what are they going to do with it now?
Republican candidates have relied on abortion and gay marriage to raise campaign funds and to convince the base to vote against their own economic interests. Now they have a chance to overturn precedent and outlaw both.
But do they really want to do that? What causes can replace these and have as much impact? They will have to go more and more extreme to keep the campaign finance bus rolling. That may be what forces moderates away from the party for good.
And I do think there are at least 4 principled Republicans, or at least 4 facing re-election in two years, who have to fear the results of confirming a judge now after refusing Garland in 2016.

I'll read just about anything and I hope Mitch McConnell rots in hell but I will not read Seth Abramson, sorry.

What is the chance that these four GOP senators will actually honor what they said in the past?
Maine Sen. Susan Collins told the New York Times, “I think that’s too close, I really do."
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski in September said, "Fair is fair," and she would not vote to replace RBG before the election."
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham in October 2018 said, "If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump's term, and the primary process has started, we'll wait to the next election. And I've got a pretty good chance of being the Judiciary [Chairman]. Hold the tape."
Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said in July he would follow the Biden rule, "I'm just following what was established by the Biden Rule in 1986 and then emphasized by him in 1992... They set the pattern. I didn't set the pattern. But it was very legitimate that you can't have one rule for Democratic presidents and another rule for Republican presidents."

Although far fetched, the idea that an impeachment of Barr could delay a Supreme Court nomination is appealing.

The government is going to run out of money shortly. Pelosi has the power to shut it down.
I’m also fascinated with the idea of expanding the court if Biden wins.

However, Romney is missing from the list and there could be a few others. Safety in numbers maybe?

From the Seth Abramson tweets "CONCLUSION 1. What should Democrats do? Anything. Everything. This is evil incarnate: such a profound hypocrisy and abuse of power that America has never seen its like (on this subject) before, and it could *profoundly* change the rule of law in America for *decades and decades*." I’ve always said fight. Take the gloves off and fight hard. I know this is offensive to some people (the When They Go Low, We Go High proponents), but I was done behaving like a good girl a long time ago. When Kavanaugh was still being readied for hearings, I bombarded every Democratic senator with emails urging them to all stick together and battle it out. I posted about it here where I told Durbin that I don’t care if he has to chain all the Dems together, he has to keep the coalition as one united bloc against Kavanaugh. He has to do this again and more. Amy Barrett’s name has come up again and as sure as night follows day, that’ll be the end of women’s reproductive rights. It’s not just getting four GOP senators to delay that’s at issue; Manchin, Donnelly and Kaine voted to confirm Barrett to the 7th Circuit (Manchin also voted yes for Kavanaugh). Who can say they won’t vote yes again for Barrett even though they’re Dems? So, no…we’re not just concerned about four senators; we’re talking about seven. Durbin has to tighten the screws or something more aggressive because we cannot afford a single outlier. The ACA is on the docket this November. Although the Republican states’ arguments for its complete dismantling are downright stupid, there’s no way to predict how this court will decide. Take the gloves off and use every parliamentarian procedure to delay, delay, delay.
