Purchased a waltz length nightgown from VCS. Was very excited to receive a good nightgown that could eventually be an heirloom piece, being it was very expensive. I'm only 5'4" so I figured it might be more ankle length on me. Also, the ad says that it is 50" long. So what do I get. I get a nightgown that is just about 61" long. Since when do mainstream stores think that most women are 6 feet tall?
Anything like this happen to you?

Well...if the description said it was 50" long and they sent you one that's 61" long they clearly sent you the wrong thing. Send it back and have them send the correct size that you ordered. Also...I'm having a hard time imagining a commercially manufactured nightgown being a "heirloom piece". But then again, I sleep in a tee-shirt and yoga-type pants, or Costco PJs.

I would do as suggested - return the item. And I don't think nightgowns, no matter how expensive, are heirloom pieces.

You have me wanting to see a photo of this nightgown! I have never heard of VCS and thought it was a typo and that you meant CVS😉

That was a mistake on my part. About it being heirloom. I meant to put it in quotes with smiley face.

I wear an heirloom birthday suit. And it’s looking more vintage with every passing year.

An heirloom nightgown? Um, okay.
Just send it back, and get the right one. Seems like they just sent the wrong item. And 61” is just a long nightgown. I’m 5’8”, so it sounds like the length I would want if I wanted floor length to keep warm (and if I wore a nightgown)
I’m not sure what you’re really questioning with VCS...

I've never heard of waltz length. Im only 5'2 so that much fabric and I would probably tie myself in knots through the night!

Oh, which one did you order? I’ve been looking at their flannel ones since LL Bean discontinued my FAVORITE one.
I knew what you meant about heirloom! Even though I know no one will want them, I have thought the same thing because they are expensive and many of them have a vintage look to them.

I like VCS because they sell jaw breakers for a penny. When we travel south we’ll pop into one (there are 2) so I can buy jaw breakers and we can sample all the cheeses and other sample foods they have out. Lol
It’s a very pricey store. They do sell high quality clothing.

C’mon - you know the deal - we need pictures! 😉 I cannot imagine wearing anything that long in bed. I’d be wrapped up in it in no time and spend the night fighting with it probably! Spongemom Scrappants - you and me both 😁

I’ve never heard of waltz length - is that like tea length? I’ve also never heard of an heirloom nightgown lol. I agree with sending it back - and would love to see photos. I do think I have received a catalog from them at some point...

I suppose there’s some joke about waltzing in a nightgown creating heirs, but I can’t quite put it together!

The part about it being an heirloom was a joke on the OP's part. Didn't you all read her second post? She said she meant to put it in quotes with a smiley face.
I would send it back for either a refund or a different item. Last Christmas my mother insisted my father could fit into a medium flannel bathrobe we both chose from this catalog for his Christmas present. I thought he would fit better in a small but they didn't even offer a small-medium was the smallest size they offered. I was right. Once he opened his gift and tried it on it was huge on him. So I sent it back for a refund and got him a smaller one from LLBean.

I’m 5’9” (69”) so 61” would be about ankle length on me. I’d send it back and ask for the one that they advertised was 50”.

I love VCS - they have such neat things. Their nightgowns are the kind I wear, but have not been able to justify the price especially since I have the skills and materials to make one myself. I would think waltz length would be below the knees but not to the ankles, am I wrong? You can dance in that length without getting tangled up.

Is it 100% cotton? It may shrink a LOT in the washer and dryer and that is why it is longer than in the ad.
As someone who is 5’8”, there is nothing I hate worse than cotton clothing that shrinks so much that it is much shorter than advertised and shorter than I can wear. And by then, I’ve washed it, so it is difficult/impossible to return to many places.
eta: is it the Aqua Dreams nightgown? Reading a review of pajamas made with the same fabric, it sounds like the fabric may be problematic. It also is made in China, so sizing may be off. That is the only nightgown I found that was 50” in length.

I’ve never heard of waltz length - is that like tea length? Same thing, different phrasing. A tea length/waltz length dress will typically hit 2-3" above the ankle. Is it 100% cotton? It may shrink a LOT in the washer and dryer and that is why it is longer than in the ad. Possibly a reason. Reminds me of the flannel nightgown my grandmother made me every year for Christmas. They would start out so long that I had to pick them up to walk. Then between shrinkage and growing, they'd be mid-calf by the next Christmas!

I had to google to see these expensive night gowns...... OMG, I can't believe the price of those things - no wonder you called it an heirloom haha! Also, they are ugly as sin. And like gar said, I can't imagine sleeping in a long gown, I'd get all tangled up. However, I LOVE this dressing gown. I already have 5 dressing gowns (3 winter and 2 summer) but I NEED this one: Chenille Ruffle Robe

I'll agree with that. They are ugly. But I moved to Minnesota and here I like ugly!. As long as it's comfy and cozy. You see, it was supposed to be the perfect gown. 3/4 sleeves so my arms can breathe and not be TOO hot, v-neckline for the same reason and the great Waltz length. But I got a body bag instead
