This is what every republican should be saying and how they should be voting. Otherwise, you hate this country.

It's a big ask, no doubt about it, but your country seems to be at a critical point so I hope enough people can see the big (HUGE) picture.

Are you seriously telling me that Republicans who vote for Trump hate our country? Or are you being sarcastic? I can’t tell.

I think you THINK you love our country. But you love Trump more. Otherwise, why would you risk our entire democracy for 4 more years of his narcissistic, psychopathic “leadership”? He’s a cult leader, not a president. And if you support him, you are part of his cult.

Are you seriously telling me that Republicans who vote for Trump hate our country? Or are you being sarcastic? I can’t tell. Janet Not that they specifically hate the country - just that they want it for themselves and their kind and damn everyone else. It is unfathomable to me that anyone can justify voting for that lying, corrupt man because he's "republican". I'm a life long moderate republican and nothing has made me more convinced to vote for Biden than the extreme right republicans that we are seeing behave at their absolute worst for the "good of our country". They want to pillage the US and its resources for their own benefit and they want to legislate their religious beliefs and have all of us live under them. I don't love Biden, but I for damn sure love the country that we were and can be again and I'll vote for whoever will do the most to get us back to that place. I will vote for someone who can complete sentences and not incite hate. I'd love for that to be someone more in line with my beliefs, but that isn't happening right now so I'm going to do my best to move the needle in that direction. If you're voting for Trump, IMO, you are voting for the dumpster fire we are currently in and welcoming more of it. This administration will divide this country more than it is now if it gets 4 more years and those of us working poor (used to be middle class, but that's long gone) will just be serfs working to line their pockets. They don't care about the environment, the hungry, the ones working 3 jobs and STILL can't make a decent living, the ones born with poor health, the ones who just want to live and let live. They want us cogs in the wheel to shut up and keep running. Don't ask for anything, don't expect anything. Honestly and FFS they are so very much more concerned with the Supreme Court vacancy than the people who have lost jobs, burned through savings, are going to get thrown out of their homes, business who are going under, the sick, the soon-to-be-sick because well masks are freedom-erasing weapons of the left, the country that is LITERALLY on fire. This entire government needs an attitude adjustment and a wake-up call. If they are supposed to work for the people, the suck at it. And I can't take 4 more years of the insanity we're living in.

I love Republicans for Biden and The Lincoln Project. I think they have made a much better case for Biden/against Trump than the actual Biden campaign. But we better watch out, because they are GOOD. In 4 years, they’ll be using all that creative genius AGAINST us. But if they are supporting a decent, honest candidate who doesn’t want to destroy our country, then I will respect the battle.

Janet As a follow up, please answer me this: What does voting FOR TRUMP mean to you? What's the endgame for YOU. If you love the country, what do you think he's going to do to make it great again?

To answer a couple of questions. I am a Republican. I am an old, white lady. I live in a southern state. I am fairly conservative. I voted Democrat most of my life.
Here’s the kicker:I am voting for Joe Biden.
See what happens when you assume shit?

Actually, it did. I am surrounded by wonderful people here in South Carolina. Most of them are voting for Trump. They love their country. When the topic comes up, I state that I think our country needs a leader who will try to pull this country together, rather than pulling us apart. I leave it at that.
Saying they hate our country is inflammatory. Now who does that sound like? Until we can work together and quit throwing fuel on the fire, our country will continue to be so divided.
Just messing with you.....

I wouldn’t go so far to say that Trump supporters hate this country. I do think they hate Biden and Democrats. I think, in part, they are selfish and voting for what they think is their best interests- he’s building a wall, he nominated 2 conservative justices, he supports the oil and gas industry etc. I don’t know if they’re getting all of their news from Fox or worse, OAN or social media, but I think Trump supporters, in some cases, fail to see the big picture. They think the CDC is lying, the numbers are wrong, COVID will go away after the election, etc. Somehow all of the violence and looting is the Democrats fault. And they don’t care if Trump destroys the environment, if it helps them personally. And they’re either not paying attention to the fact that he is destroying the Constitution, is eliminating checks and balances, has Barr working has his own personal attorney or that corruption and nepotism are widespread. They don’t care as long as their party is in power. But they should care because the expanded presidential powers will work against them when their party is no longer in control.

I’m not so sure about that. They’re not just against Trump, they’re against the Trumpism that’s taken over their entire party, and they recognize that it’s going to take far longer than this election cycle to root it out.

She's using that as a cover.

The "wonderful" people who vote for Trump are voting for THEIR PRIVILEGE (White, Christian, Able-Bodied, Straight, etc) over EVERYBODY'S EQUALITY. Meaning, they've had it "their way" for 200 years and they like it that way.
They don't want to make room for black voices, or queer voices, or Muslim voices.
America, in their minds, should look like them and think like them and worship like them and act like them.
Everyone else should "know their place".
They will gladly vote for Trump again. It is NOT so much about making their lives better, as it's about making other people's lives worse.
These are NOT wonderful people.

We drove by Fred Upton’s Office downtown today. In his office’s yard he has a Fred Upton sign. In the yard of the house right next door, was a sign that said Republicans for Biden. It was perfectly in line with Fred’s, and the two signs were facing each other. I wish the light had been red so I could have taken a picture. It made me laugh. 😁

A true conservative would be completely pissed of the spending that has been done even prior to the pandemic. For eight years, conservatives screamed bloody murder about our country's deficit and now that it has exploded into numbers we've not seen before, crickets. I'd laugh in the face of some trump supporter trying to pass themselves off as a conservative. No, the GOP has now fully morphed into the party of Trump and within another decade, will probably never win another national election. They only have themselves to blame.

I don't think she is wrong. To vote for someone who has done the things he has done and all of the people he has hurt - I don't think you can say you love this country as it actually is in all of its messy, imperfect mishmash of beliefs and colors and heritages and orientations. At minimum he's a racist and he amplifies white supremacists. That alone should disqualify him for anyone who truly claims to love the United States.
